Congrats on the DAS - I passed mine at the end of July.

Having learnt on a Yam XT125X, I fancied a sit up moto type and even thought I might get a new Honda FMX650 before the emissions rules get them - a big thumper, all for about £3.5K or possibly less as we approach December.

I took my more experienced biker son to have a look and he said Heart=FMX, Head=CBF500 and at 59 years I ought to be sensible / grow-up ( the cheeky young bugger ) and buy the CBF. BOth bikes new, OTR at £3999 or less with 2 years warrenty and first service free labour.

Traded in my Yam for £1300 leaving £2700 to pay (paid a few more quid actually because I had a Scottoiler fitted ).

So my suggestion is a CBF500 as your first bike and before you say too expensive, I saw Doble(?) selling new ones for £2999 on the road. Its a no brainer. Cheap to run / insure / cheap parts / and why are all the courier lads using them.

A good choice in my book - I use mine for the daily commute.

Regards

Ring him up and offer £3K. This time of year you may well be lucky.
