Just tucked the bike up for it's winter hibernation.
Need to focus the mind on some track action in 2008 to get through the dreary winter months.
I will be firing it up hopefully once a month to keep the gas in the carbs fresh-ish, to re-charge the battery and to warm the oil thoroughly. Will also be rotating the wheels. Any other tips other than WD40 treatment?
Anyone else put their bike away for winter yet?

Yes. Get an optimate and give the rest a miss as it's pointless.StuB said:

No.Totally agree. One week on public transport means at least 2-3 screwed up journeys. So I usually only do one day, but it doesn't half hurt giving away nearly £15 to SW Trains and LU, the two least competent transport businesses around. It costs me less than a third of that to do a commute on the bike, the bike never leaves late, leaves without me, goes on strike, nor crawls along as slow as possible en route. It's my office x-mas party on Weds and I'll have to suffer the cs once again. F' it.

I just had a week off from using the bike due to working off site and office party/drinks etc. I couldn't wait until this morning to get back on it. One week solid on public transport in London is more than enough for me!
I feel the same but having bought a monthly season I am not giving TFL any of my hard earned cash for nothing, so I shall persevere with the tube.Secondly my youngest has passed on her cold to me. I now have the worst cold in the history of mankind!!!! Which makes a crash helmet a very unpleasant place to be.
PS. Has anyone tried one of these cold remedies that come ready mixed in sachets, , absolutely bloody awful.

It's not man-flu is it?? Christ, sorry to hear that.
Mine's been in hiding for the last 5 weeks, come to think of it I haven't looked either to see if it's still there.
I haven't bothered with the optimate, all my previous one's used to stand all winter, well I'd start them when I remembered.
Tyres have never gone square, or the engine used oil after the lay up.
I didn't clean the previous one before I covered it up, and the dead fly's had turned moldy.
EDIT: I'll be up for some track days with yourself and Hobo.

Just MOT'd mine on Saturday, got an advisory for the rear pads. I'd just put a new rear tyre on that morning and spotted the pads were down but didn't have time to do anything about them. I don't think he was really bothered but as they didn't know me from Adam he gave me a yellow one 'just so the computer knows I've spotted it'... but I was at the price of pads: twenty-five quid a bloody caliper? I've hunted the planet and can't get them much better than that by the time you put VAT and Postman Pat's cut on top of whatever 'discounted' price is offered. Handed 'Big' Dave Silver the anal lube (along with my Visa card) in the end.
It's been an expensive month (and that's ignoring the speeding ticket )... MOT, tyre, pads, tax... over £200. I'm damned if I'm parking it up for the bloody winter after that lot...

Can't get the bloody thing off the road, gave the car to the ex's son, now the bike is my only set of wheels. But, I'm not bitter!
Would love to get something else though, an old Porsche or something to use as regular transport for 5-6 weeks whilst I get Fazer the wonderhorse blinged up for the spring.
