Hey

Just remember that the cbr600f is MASSIVE. And quite heavy. Very comfy though. I'm glad I got the SV instead. An utterly fantastic forum / community at sv650.org too, full of people with parts and help.
Thanks for that link Taita.

My first bike after l plates i think will be a hyusong gt650r or whateva there called same engine as the sv but 5 more bhp heavier though, more sportier riding position, mcn really rated this bike on wednesday saying that there now pushing out real decent bikes at decent prices, 4k new!
Agreed, I almost got one. However, the build quality is still slightly lacking. Some things aren't laid out intuitively.

For what my six pennurth counts I'd seriously echo Buelligan & others comments above-unless you're in a rush to meet your maker-or at best your local A & E Dept.
Hell man there's no rush, main thing is get something that you're comfortable on (noticed your height) but has enough power to keep you out of trouble but not enough to get you into mischief -if you know what I mean?
Personally I'd say anything 500cc up to 750 (max) would do me if I were you until I've done PLENTY of miles & got the hang of bike handling/dynamics etc. Even at 750 I'd go for something relatively tame & I wouldn't rush at a screamer 4 pot although maybe an early Honda CBR600-F would be pleasant but I'd look at Hornets, SV650s etc for ease of riding & comfort.
As always-enjoy riding & keep your wits about you for the tossers. Nothing beats time on the bike.
As a thought -how does the bike you're using for DAS seem to suit? maybe that's a good starter.
Good luck anyway thumbup

thanks again i guess starting with an unfaired bike makes a lot of sense as it means that fairing wont get broken when i drop it. ive been told i will drop the bike by every biker ive spoken to. i thought i wouldnt drop mine but ive now decided to accept the inevitable!!

one question though wouldnt one suffer from more windblast on the motorway on a bike that is unfaired compared to a bike that is faired. or is the misconcived wisdom? again thanks for good points that have been brought up. i definately wont bonther with the r1 though i must confess ill probaly hop on it so that i can say ive been on an R1! also how old would you say one should go for their first bike esp if insured tpft/tpt.

yes you'll get more windblast on a naked bike - i class that as a good thing, it keeps you at semi-legal speeds on those incredably dangerous over camera'd empty motorways.

Assuming you are looking at the SV650, you can get a fully faired version, the SV650Sport. Alternatively, you can get a SV650S and I believe the lower fairings are available separately.....?
