Could 100 bhp / 100 kgs happen?
If so, what is the lightest engine we could start with, as a base?

It couldn't be done by a major maker, due to all the rules and regulations, but could a 'daytime MOT' cafe racer have 100/100?

Suggestions for an engine, a stroker perhaps?
I seem to remember that the Suzuki RG250 v-twin would go to 350cc, but 100 bhp would be beyond that, i guess.

1000 bhp/ton!

Veyron = 616 bhp/ton
Zonda F clubsport = 521 bhp/ton
Mclaren F1 = 560 bhp/ton

That'd be quite nippy then! driving

ETA: (for reference) 2007 Yamaha R1(381 lbs) with 170lbs rider 171hp/.250tons = 684 hp/ton

I once read somewhere that Aprilia were getting around 100hp out of their race 250s but reliability might be an issue.... rolleyes

Doesn't Stan Stevens make some ridiculously big two stroke based on the RD 350 engine?
Banshee? That rings a bell.

I think it's used in daft things like racing hovercrafts, but surely it would still go back in a bike.

If big horsepower is your thing, there have been a couple of articles in Ride magazine recently about superchargers; they look... interesting!

Well if we consider that the NSR500 etc. were approx 130kgs with 200bhp, take the engine down to 250cc and we have the right horsepower. So will that capacity reduction get 30kgs off, er no. And factor in that this is race equipment and likely to go pop and the answer regarding the road bike is no chance!

I suppose they could almost get 100bhp out of a 400cc four-stroke these days (250bhp/litre compared with 220bhp/litre for the present 600's) but that would probably be way over on weight. I reckon 130kg is about do-able as a pcensoredsstake way around the rule. wobble

Even a 100bhp bike at 130kgs is going to be stunning, still not sure that could be done within the kind of budgets we have to spend. With the current crop of 600s we are pretty close to what can be done for £7k

200kgs all up would still give 500bhp/t

So it will be a bit nippy.

Yeah, it's a bit radical, 100/100.

100 bhp and 130 kgs would be easy enough though.
