This is from one of the FAQs on www.sv650.org

First remove both seats, then the rear bodywork. There are four bolts under the seats for this, plus two screws underneath. Beware also that there is a locating lug at each side that the panels push into - carefull pulling pressure is required. Split the rear bodywork (the cable for the seat lock is easily removed) by removing the two screws holding the rear light cowl, and also the rubber washers were it fastened under the seat. It is easier to fit the undertray whilst wresting with one side of bodywork at a time.
Remove battery.

Now this may be for a curvy sv650 rather than a SVthou, so treat this with caution! Maybe trawl a bit more through the FAQs yourself?

On the "pointy" sv you don't need to remove the rear bodywork.

Pull off the dimond shaped plastic panels on either side

Then there is an allen key bolt on either side that holds the main seat on.

Then pull the seat apart and upwards (making sure you don't scratch the tank).

Battery is underneath.

crying out loud ,

seems you need to be a Krypton Factor candidate to work that one out on your own .

Like when my son asked me to help him change the side light "bulb " on his Suburu , I giggled when he asked .

Then after 30 minutes looked at the manual. " remove the front bumper " was step 1

rofl As I said, I'm no mechanic but it's somehow satisfying to know that it wasn't simple!

Well, it's actually easy (even for me). Remove the two diamond panels held in with allen bolts, this reveals allen bolts through the seat which can then be removed and, yes you've got to be careful not to scratch the tank.

Half hour later she worked!

Many thanks to everyone smile
