or am i confusing analogue display (ie a needle reading) with analogue data collection (ie cable driven)?

anyone care to tell me what I have on a 04 cbr rr? if theyre both digi collection, but one is analogue display, i dont think i have a problem or need a specialist kit.

I will admit im slightly confused- my bike has a digital speedo and analogue (ie needle based) rev counter. According to the links above, they can accomodate this.

however, a digital speedo'd bike is more prevalent and therefore the kits are more widely available, and the kit looks like this:

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDeta...

which shows an analogue speedo'd bike, doesnt it? confused
that picture does confuse things as you can get a digi gear for cable driven speedos

the one in the link is for your bike though...if in doubt order it over the phone and double check...the guys at demon tweeks are very helpfull

"About this product
The Datatool Digital Gear Indicator is suitable for use on motorcycles equipped with an electronic speedometer and rev counter. The system gives a visual indication of the gear in use for up to 8 gear ratios, stopping you looking for a gear that isn't there. Installation is simple, with a programming mode to teach it the relationships of your speedometer and rev counter. The DiGi also comes with auto dim for night-time use.

Please note: This does not work on Ducati 749/999 2004"

The stepper motor in the rev counter (electrical) is driven off a crank sensor pickup (also electrical). Nothing is mechanically driven on modern bikes if that helps?

The first time I test rode the Busa , it was a new bike , first time out..

I was proceeding in a northerly direction at a nice quiet 140 thinking how nice it was , then after a couple of miles , I clicked the gear lever and found another 2 changes were still in there biggrin

Your next purchases should be braided brake hoses (handy on a 4 year old bike) and R&G crash bungs (good precaution on any bike IMO).

If you have any more disposable cash I'll be happy to help you dispose of it.

keep em coming though- if I dont spend it on this the missus will only waste it on food or some such fripperies.

although it was my mates bike at the time...i bought it off him with ALL the goodies fitted already cool as you do!!! hehe

ive never seen the need for gear indicators once i 'know' my bike. yes it would have been handy the for a while on a strange bike but i get to know the revs so i can work it out.
on my 14 70 is about 3.5k in 6th & in 3rd the speedo & rec counter track exactly the same. thats enough for me to judge it tbh. mind you its hardly a bike where you need the right gear, it just goes anyway.

I've put them on several bikes. You can generally get to all the wires you'll need by simply removing the screen.

Much easier to fit if you bought the versions with a plug in loom.
