Er, am I missing something but since when have racers had to, mirror, signal, manoeuvre? Isn't it a fact that 'overtaking' makes motorbike racing so much more enjoyable than F1? Seems the boys in top class are losing the plot a bit. Do they want indicators now aswell as an electrician to ride the bikes for them?
Toseland has had the balls to say if he thinks he's made a mistake on track [MCN, practice, hayden] but it's like he says, he's paid to get past people. I for one hope he continues to show determination, and not get hung up with all the handbag waving that's going on.

When a Rookie passes you, as a racer, you need a hat full of excuses it seems.

Cracking start to the season for JT!

Firm but fair...

Funny how the new boy is putting some of the primadona's to shame at their own party.

More power to your elbow (and stop being so nice; you sound like a mummy's boy wink ).

I think the grid are as tough as he , the week contenders imho for putting in a hard pass are the Repsol gays

Or Suzuki who are under performing in comparison to where they ought to be and don't like a satellite team with a rookie rider out qualifying and out racing them.

I wonder what we will all think, the first time, (or perhaps the third time?), JT is taken out and dumped down the road by someone 'riding competitively'?

Hmmm?

Personally I feel sorry for any competitor taken out by anothers mistake, but that's racing.

I must have missed something though, how many people has JT taken out?

I can see what all the fuss is about James's overtaking, he is an excellent overtaker! He is intelligent enough to spot and make his opportunities for himself rather than waiting for someone to slip up in the established areas, and assertive enough to make the move and make it stick. His overtaking in Spain on that fast right was superb, and quite right for doing it too; his bike was down on power, but the chassis was clearly working okay so he used his superior handling to overtake people.

He nudged Lorenzo heavily at Qatar for which is admitted as a mistake of line and Vermuelen slightly at Jerez when he was alongside him. Not sure of the Hayden incident in practice but he apologised and Hayden also said it was fine as well afterwards. I just think a lot of the established riders hadn't expected to see so many rookies at the sharp end this year.

I'm not a Toseland fan but I don't dislike him, either. Speaking as objectively as I can, I really haven't seen anything wrong with any of his passes. He just appears to take opportunities that others daren't risk, or so it would it seem.

Good luck to him, though, i hope he does really well.
But suicidal stunts are not on and i hope he doesn't think he's immune from danger, somehow.

I think he's being a little rough with his passing, I hope he settles down a bit, or has his adrenalin gland reduced.

It's great to see an English rider up there in Moto GP, and not just making the numbers up.

But, isn't 'racing' dangerous? Not trying to be flippant here but, maybe they should stop racing and just go for fastest qualifying lap as in 'superpole'. Then no complaints of overtaking/someone in the way etc. Now that would really pull the crowds eh?
I know his manoeuvres are firm, but fair I think. GO ON JT!

Come off it, suicidal stunts.

All I've seen Toseland do up to now is ride the wheels off the thing, and a few hard passes.

He's not caused a crash, he's just ruffled a few feathers. Big deal. the others will have to get over it.

He was a fast safe rider in WSB, and up to now he's a fast safe rider in Moto GP
+1

Let's see how the season progresses. I will return for your opinion, if and when he's screwed up and put himself or others in hospital.

Plus, i expect the same people here to put it down to 'strong racing' if someone stupidly drives him into the tarmac at 150 mph and finishes his season.

I agree it's a fine line.
I am just making the point, that racing doesn't mean ignoring the welfare of others around you.

Exactly. Wasn't it Troy Baylis who mentioned that Toseland was one of his favoured riders to race hard against, because he was able to trust him not to punt him off. Thinking back to Assen I think it was last year!
