Did anyone make it to the Northwich Thundersprint this last weekend....?

Great weather, great bikes - new and old and some true racing legends racing around the town!!!

The great Ago for one.... Jim Redman was another.

I'd forgotten just how great some of the old bikes sounded.... saying that, Ago was riding a modern MV Agusta 750 race bike!

Best thing of all - it was ALL free (including parking and grandstand seats :-)

Me and a few mates had a ride up, weather was fantastic and it was a great day. We had a ride to Matlock Bath and back over the snake pass home, it was a great day.

My old man was 'competing' in it.... he was in the 'Motorcycling Personalities' category (No.26), riding his modded Harley Davidson - he did pretty well really (well he didn't fall off!).

They had a category for sidecars and classic 3 wheelers too... did anyone see the guy almost roll that classic in practice? I swear it only stayed upright by hitting the hay bails with the passengers head! driving

Hi,

Just a note that the above image has been hotlinked from the "Welcome to Northwich" website, http://www.northwichuk.com
Not a major problem but I thought I would let you know that I have a large collection of photos from this years Thundersprint event online, including many trackside ones (still editing the descriptions but all the photos are up there...)

The direct link to the Thundersprint 2008 Gallery is:
http://www.northwichuk.com/pics/thumbnails.php?alb...

I also have all the images (and many more) in high resolution format so if anyone wants some high quality images send me an email - you can contact me from the Northwich website.

(CJ.OK - I've got about 5 or 6 hi-res photos of No.26. If you want copies, let me know and I'll upload them onto my website for you.)

Best Regards
Colin

Hi,

Regarding the 3 wheeler hitting the hay bail. This pic shows it about a second later. The guy on the right, legging it, is one of my photographers, Graham. From where I was it looked liked a close call :-(

CJ.OK & Colin,

I was the Morgan passenger at Thundersprint last week and am pleased to say that it was not my head that hit the straw bale as the front nearside wheel got there first, but it was a very hairy moment. If you have any photographs of the Morgan on two wheels or know where there are any please let me know as I would love to see what it looked like from outside the car as all I could see was the tarmac getting closer?

I did have to wait a while before I took my leathers off!

Only minor damage to the car, nearside mudguard pushed back slightly and the nearside wooden subframe had the rear corner planed off by the tarmac, glad the straw bale was there!
