no experience needed, they really are what they say - C Basic Training.
i'd ridden a twist n go back when i was about 7 & i managed one ok.
you cant fail them as such, but they may tell you to come back again if the instructor isnt happy with letting you loose on the road by the end of the day. to be honest though, if you've ridden crossers before it should be a doddle. it starts with these are the controls, then you progress to a few simple things around cones & then out on the road for the afternoon. just listen to the instructor they are good at telling you what you need to do to get the cert.

did mine a couple of weeks ago with a mate and 2 16 yo lads on mopeds.. The morning session in the car park is very simple and step by step taking you through the control of the bike.. The instructor making sure you are happy at each stage before moving on to the next.
Then in the afternoon there is a 2 hour ride out with one other pupil and the instructor. The instructor is in radio contact with you telling you what to do...
We had a blast on our ride out, loverly day..
If you can drive a car and have basic balance you should be fine..
IIRC you dont fail a cbt you just dont pass and have to go back for another hour or so. to complete

do your test on the 125cc & your limited to 33bhp for 2 years & then unlimited.
do your test on over 42?bhp ( i think its 47kw wtf they are) then your unlimited right away.
if you enjoy the cbt i'd suggest doing your test, a 125 with anything more than a 8stone girl on is too slow for mainroads really. plus the test gets harder/more expensive in october.

Hint: you'll need more than a CBT to ride a 250 or restricted sports 600
as the linky above says, not more than 125cc on a CBT.
if you do your test (not the cbt, but you do need the cbt first) and do the test on a small bike (i think the law is under 42kw) then yes you can get a restricted zx6 - how nice it'd be to ride i dunno, it'd be strangled before it got on song.

nope, you'd need to do the test too.
I too am in the same situation, and after a day of half-hearted attempts at some research, I have decided to do the CBT and the test on the 125cc before the new test regs come into effect later this year. The 2 year license restriction is quite ideal, because I can then gain the experience on a lighter bike, and by that time I'll be 21 anyway!
I've read a bit on the power-restriction idea, and it appears that insurance companies don't take that into consideration, so presumably the premiums would remain high? In terms of ride it appears that the torque from the bigger bikes would be a big bonus...
I have my eyes on the 250R once I've done the test!

Do you find 125s to be alot more than you would expect purely because it is the fastest thing a 17yr old can have (or anyone on a restricted license) CBRs seem to be about 1500 for a decent one. I might just get the noisy as hell aprilia RS125.
Well I've decided to do the CBT and hop on straight to a Mito or the Aprilia 125...I suggest either of them as they are quite closely matched once de-restricted I hear..(although you need to do the test to legally ride with the bike de-restricted, but shh). ;]
However I think before the new test comes in it's best to get it over and done with, so I'm going to get used to a 125 then do the test, but keep the 125 till the restriction period is over!
