Strange, I uploaded them to Webshots and they appear fine when I preview the post.

Hopefully I'll have better luck with Webshots this time as it seems to dislike direct linking. I've bought a Krall anchor:

and need to site it in my garage, which is internal to the house. I have some shelves etc at the back of the garage which I don't want to move, so I'm looking at siting the anchor down one of the sides of the garage somewhere. I have some brickwork jutting out on both sides, so I'm hoping that these corners will afford the anchor a little protection.

First option is here:

Second option:

Last option:

Thanks in advance.

To the house wall / garage wall, or even the floor, i want one that goes deep into ground that you cement in.

Suggest you attach the chain to the bike and through the ground anchor and see where it can reach to. Then you're just trying to place it where it's hardest for a thief to attack, so if you can, don't leave the chain on the floor. My ground anchor is concreted in, which is secure, but it's hard to reach when I chain my second bike up.

Cheers,

Steve.

Not passed yet chaps, but asked my instructor to keep an eye out for a bike for me - so just getting ready.

The floor is carpet tiles, as I like doing my own maintenance where I can and hate a dusty garage floor. I've previously sealed and painted floors in other garages, but found that the sticky tyres of my Caterham lifted the paint up, so this time I just went for tiling.

Thanks for the advice Steve, I was hoping to fit the anchor ready for when I have my bike. Obviously I won't have the same bike forever, so was going to site it now rather than wait until I have my first bike?

If you're starting from scratch I'd put it on the wall, put the chain round the bike and through the anchor so that no part of the chain is near the floor and the anchor is hidden just below the top of the bike, so the chain can be pulled quite tight. Put the padlock just

Almax chains are very good.

If it's a bolt down anchor I'd advise fitting it to the wall, leaving the chain on the floor makes it easier to break. Try putting it where the body of the bike will shield it when it's locked up, anything which makes life difficult for a thief to get at the anchor / chain, if they get into the garage, will help.
