Been browsing around, been looking at a SV650s. The new pointy ones have ABS it seems, is it worth it on a bike? (My car lacks any form of safety equipment bar seatbelts) 05 plate ones seem to be going for about 2k, which seems pretty good!

So as soon as I find the cash, time to go out and buy something! (Don't want to dip into the savings, but it's difficult to stop eyeing it up)

I don't mean to sound negative, but imo buy a bike that you are prepared to drop as your 1st bike. ok it's not that you will damage it but dropping it when you stall or push it around at home are a distinct possibility.

Yeah my dad had mentioned this to me. (He also offered a go on his Triumph, but the thing is sodding huge, no chance!)

I think the SV will be alright for a first bike. It'll have the crush bungs fitted, and the parts seem readily available. Don't mind spending 2K, and that seems to net you a decent one. I am however keeping an eye open for a ratty old thing to tide me over until I can pick one up.

The SVs are fantastic bikes. Soon as you get one, get over to www.sv650.org and get on the forums. A cracking bunch of people who know everything about the various iterations of ESS VEE!
