MotoGP: Assen (spoilers)

Hopkins misses the race and possibly more after he went off at the fast final left hander before the chicane, at such speed he hit the unprotected wall, that is a long way from the track. report below.
I think he crashed on his same No1 bike he dumped at the chicane earlier in the session and it was fixed in the pits before his final runs. Something must have broken on the bike.

John Hopkins will miss Saturday's Dutch TT at Assen due to lower leg injuries sustained in a huge Friday qualifying fall.
The Anglo-American, who also fell early in the hour-long session, lost the front of his Ninja ZX-RR under braking for the left-hander at turn 12, one of the fastest corners on the Assen circuit, in the closing minutes of the timed session.
After falling, the #21 managed to separate himself from his sliding machine, but appeared to lose little speed as he skimmed across the gravel and sustained the injuries to his left leg when he collided with the tyre wall on the outside of the corner.
The initial assessment in the Clinica Mobile was that Hopkins sustained a fractured left ankle and suspected compression injuries to his left knee and will be out of action for at least 20 days - but the 25-year-old will return to Los Angeles tomorrow for a further medical examination by Doctor Art Ting.
Only once full extent of his injuries are known will a decision be made as to whether Hopkins will return to action at the next race in Sachsenring, which takes place in just two weeks time.
"John's crash may affect the next two races, which is a real disappointment," stated Kawasaki competition manager Michael Bartholemy. "The injuries to his ankle were not caused by the fall itself, but the collision with the unprotected wall on the outside of turn 12. John will now return to America for treatment and we'll make a decision on Sachsenring once we know the extent of his injuries."
If Germany isn't possible, Hopper will be aiming to return to action at his home US Grand Prix, to be held at Laguna Seca on July 20.
Team-mate Anthony West will line-up 17th on the Dutch TT grid.

brad going out on same bike he crashed, must be feeling so good on the no 1 bike....
nope he's on his second bike according to comentatorsYes he got a bit of revenge there, the Honda 100yds away from perfect fuel economy. It did stop very quickly too although there previous mile or so of circuit was all fast sweepers naturally flinging the bike left and right so getting the last bits of fuel in there wouldn't have been difficult, just failed when he called for full throttle out the chicane.
I thought Nicky got himself into a very nice aerodynamic position on his bike but at 15mph I don't think it really helped.

Wow, the unpredictability of motorsport, i really didnt see this happening, a little drama from the Great man himself. Rossi makes an uncharacteristic mistake, hits the dirt and hands the initiative to Pedrosa, what is it with his poor starts? And was he paying attention to Pedrosa as opposed to DP, could that have contributed to his downfall? What a result for Casey and Ducati!!
Im not an Edwards fan, but he is doing some impressive things on that Tech 3, to finish on the podium from 9th is very very impressive, for me he was Man of the Match.
Pedrosa, consistent as always, another solid display closely followed by a seriously pissed off Hayden!! Hahaha Edwards I doubt has a shred of sympathy after what happened last year.
But what a ride by Casey!! Its not up to him to slow down, its up to the rest of the field to catch up. Total Domination this weekend and now it is Game on with regards the championship.
After last weeks heated debate on the heckling he endured at Donington, this is the perfect way to answer your critics. Thats 3 race wins this year, nobody can doubt your credentials now Stoner!!
I dont mind one little bit that you dont have the charisma of Rossi, just keep your head down and stay ahead of the top2.
Game ON!!
