Just been sent this on an email from a fellow biker.

'Incident - A40, Denham roundabout'

Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident on the A40 at the Denham roundabout on Sunday (27/7).

At 3.30pm two student motorcyclists were travelling along the A40 from Oxford Road, Denham, under the instruction of a Metropolitan police officer. They all turned left on the roundabout travelling in the direction towards London on Western Avenue.

The instructor, a 33-year-old man, from Buckinghamshire, became aware of a blue Porsche Carrerra 911 driving aggressively behind his students and undertaking other vehicles. He indicated to the driver of the Porsche to slow down and then manoeuvred in front of it. The Porsche then collided into the rear of the instructor, knocking him off his white Honda motorcycle and into the central reservation and the path of oncoming traffic.

The Porsche, then on the wrong side of the carriageway, reversed and collided with one of the student motorcyclists, knocking him off his blue Yamaha, causing serious leg injuries.

The occupants of the Porsche, three white men, abandoned the Porsche and threatened another motorist, a 43-year-old woman, from Buckinghamshire, in a black BMW with an axe. The frightened and shocked woman got out of the car and the men got into her vehicle. They left on the northbound carriageway on the A40 towards the junction on the A412.

Both, the Metropolitan police officer and the student motorcyclist, a 43-year-old man, from Bedfordshire, were taken to Hillingdon Hospital. The officer sustained minor injuries and was later released. The student is in a serious condition.

The other motorcyclist, a 48-year-old man, from Hertfordshire, who was riding a black KTM and the female driver of the BMW did not sustain any injuries, but are both naturally shocked and traumatised by the incident.

Detective Inspector Dave Allen, leading the investigation, said: “This was a shocking, malicious incident, one you only expect to see in the movies and it has left all the victims involved extremely traumatised.

“We have discovered the Porsche was stolen from St Albans, Hertfordshire, and it was on false number plates from Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. It is imperative anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity contacts me or Crimestoppers. I would like to hear from anyone who saw anything in either St Albans or Cheshunt, the collision itself, the Porsche before the collision or the BMW leave the scene travelling at speed on the A40, or onto the A412 North Orbital Road towards Rickmansworth.

“We need to find these men and make sure they can not do this again.”

Det Insp Allen can be contacted at Thames Valley Police via the 24-hour non-emergency number, 0845 8 505 505. If you do not want to talk to the police, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Note to media:
The two student motorcyclists are not members of a police force. The metropolitan officer was carrying out a Bike Safe lesson with the students, which is a road safety initiative to promote safer riding.

Christ, that sounds nasty!

Hope they catch the scumbags who did it and that the injured parties make a full recovery.

A dreadful incident, there are some horrible people out there.

However, why would he do this? If he was not on a marked bike and on duty, it sounds like he was trying to get the Porsche to stop? You would have expected him just to let the car past for the safety of himself and students. I'm sure there's more to the incident than has been reported.

My guess is he would have been trying to create space for the other 2 riders to get the Porsche off their backs. When I was doing my DAS my instructor did the same a couple of times when impatient drivers were tailgating me or another learner.

The Met bikesafe instructors use marked police bikes & are in uniform.

Saw the aftermath of this... came of the A40 to head home into Uxbridge. Got to the bottom of the exit to turn right and to my left were Police EVERYWHERE...

Obviously not aware of what had happened at the time, but reading this is just fked up.

No, not always.
When I did my bikesafe last year, my assigned officer was on his own bike. He was wearing a Met lid though.

Yes, mostly, but not always. The article states a White motorcycle, not a marked Police bike. Some of the bike cops I've known have had Police 'type' bikes as their own personal bikes, i.e. Pans, BMWs etc.

A motorcyclist was fighting for his life last night after crashing into a ditch in Bray .

At around 4.50pm yesterday, two motorcycles were driving along Drift Road, heading from Maidenhead toward Windsor when one of the riders lost control of his blue Suzuki GSXR 750 sports motorcycle and ploughed into a ditch near Hawthorn Hill.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in which 27-year-old rider was catapulted through the air into fields near the Bird Hills Golf Club Roundabout.

An air ambulance arrived at the scene at 5.30pm and flew the injured man to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The man suffered serious injuries to his head, ribs and spine and is currently in hospital in a stable condition.

The circumstances of the crash are under investigation, and the road was closed in both directions for some time on Sunday.

A man in his twenties was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The man involved is a very good mate frown

Golf Girl, very sad to hear your news. You should really start a new thread in this forum for this story, otherwise things can get confusing.

Hyp/Aubery: have you done a bike safe course with the Met (from the Ace cafe or the Warren), or was it with another force?

I only ask because all of the instructors on mine (Warren) were in full uniform/marked bikes.

Thoughts with the guys who were hurt.

Snap on my DAS with a very impatient Mondeo was trying to bully the rider in front.

I hope they catch the tossers.

When I did the course at the Ace, they had an unmarked (although stickered with Bikesafe) R1 & but the rider wore a fluorescent POLICE tabard.

Mine with the met were in full uniform. However I asked a Surrey bike cop for you and he said they are often in full uniform, but occasionally not.

My course was from the Ace. He was unmarked other than his lid and fluorescent jacket.
