I took my FZ1 into a dealers this week with an ongoing oil-leak problem, it turns out that it has a porous engine casing so it's gonna need a new set of crankcases. Basically it's gonna be a full bottom end rebuild on a 4000 mile 10 month old bike and I'm gonna be bikeless for about 4 weeks yikes

So when I'm looking about the dealers I notice that they've got a shiny new R1 in the blue and white. I got speaking to the salesman and he offered me a great P/X price for the FZ1 and a good price on the R1.

Why is it that dealers always manage to tempt you with things like this?

As long as the bike's off the road, I've got no transport but the dealer will supply me with a courtesy scooter. It's a tough descision, do I just decide sod it and chop in the FZ1 or should I stick with it.....I hate making descisions like this frown

Because it's their job? smile

Why not ask for a loan of an R1 instead of a crappy scooter so you can make up your mind whether you want to take up the dealer's offer of a p/x?

Because it's cheaper for them than paying out for the warranty work on your bike?

about 8 years ago i had the very same with a new Yamaha Thunderace, only a 1000 miles otc.

I was willing to top up the deal to get a replacement new bike as i didnt want a new bike with a rebuilt engine.

They just wouldnt entertain it , despite I had also had a blown head gasket at 600 miles as the head had not been torqued up at the factory .

Yamaha will never get another cent from me

If I get it, I'll be getting it before mine goes in to get fixed so I'm not bikeless!
I called for an insurance quote this afternoon. It's gonna put my premium up from £250 to £420 which isn't too bad considering the bike!
