winters generally a good time to snap a bargain bike. it should be even better with economics as they are.
my budgets about 8000 to 9000 pounds. what bikes new or secondhand would be worth weighing up, i want something really fast but it needs to be able to do 2-up work now and then so no fireblades or mvs please. something which didnt become worthless after 2 years as well.

there not.

110bhp, weigh roughly the same as a herd of elephants, they dont go, full stop.

With 125lb.ft of torque? I'm no fan of them but with that kind of urge they won't feel sluggish.

Yeah but Torque to weight is nothing fantastic.

A 'wing' is just one step too far away from 'bike' and towards 'block of flats'

Sure is a block of flats but low down torque gets the motion going which is why a rocket 3 spanks most sports bikes to 70MPH and that Tesla thing spanked the much lighter and much faster(top end)petrol powered Lotus.

If I had my old Busa motor in my GSXR1000 id be a happy boy.

So you think a Blade is ugly & fat yet your looking at a Wing / Busa / Kwak?
Your mad!
If you want 2 up then go for the above.
But if you want something that looks good dont get the above!

You wouldn't confuse one for a sports bike. Not my cuppa.

In any case, 'slow' is relative. Torque to weight would be comparable to a 600cc sportsbike, with most of it from very low revs. Hopeless for track use but ideal for mile munching, with luggage and pillion.

Horses for courses, etc.

If speed is vital, ZZR1400, Busa, etc.

The Gold Wing 1800 IS a fantastic bike and isn't remotely 'slow', but is a different world to 'fast'.

Try a Gold Wing and see what you think.

ZZR1400, had mine for 18 months, 215Kg with 105 lb/ft. It's perfect for 2 up touring the European Alps - I do that several times a year. It's also not a massive bike, so easy to hussle around and the handling is sublime smile

The small tubes at the back are for a Ventura pack that goes on the back for longer trips.

Mine probably weighs a few Kgs less with the fruity hehe pipes I installed (there are two of them, one also on the other side) :

Im in the £4k market after Xmas, I reckon there'll be a glut of pre-reg bargains out there come Feb/Mar time as the dealers clear for new stock.

The Street Triple is on the shortlist and I know I wont be getting much off one of them, but now the waiting list has gone and production has been increased, I should expect to see them coming down slightly.

Kawasaki Versys is still up there on the list though, and theres some seriously good deals on those..just waiting for the 08 Green versions to come into that bracket
