I still have my second ever bike, a Suzuki GS400B, with 53,000 miles on it, had a new cam chain at 28k.

I've had two big twin Harleys both do over 50,000 miles.

I used to depatch and the highest mileage bikes i owned were;
Honda CX500(Plastic maggot), 350,000 miles engine was still running good when i sold the engine to another despatcher, who used it for another year.
Kawasaki GT550, 300,000 miles. Totally knackered. Would barely start as there was next to no-compression.

As a footnote we used to average 75,000 miles a year.

33K - my current C90 - runs like a tractor - ie - like every other c90. Will probably do another 33K trouble free miles as well.

Before that - 29K - GPX250R. Ran perfectly with no oil use, until the day I wrapped it around a motorway bridge support at 85mph on the M27.

I only despatched for a year but that took my GSX550 from 20k to 105k. In that time it ate 3 sets of stators and 3rd gear, but otherwise OK. My girlfriend at the time then put another 20k on it over 2 years and it was still OK when she sold it.

I had a Diversion 600 way back in the late 90s.

Speedo drive cable was removed at the advice of my trusted mechanic..... due to the rate at which I was clocking up the miles.

When I sold it, it was showing around 70k miles, but had done at least another 10k on top of that.

Never needed anything other than chains, sprockets, tyres and brakes.

Great, bullet-proof commuter hacks.

Bought a Fireblade 929 RRY with 39'000 miles and took it up to 42'000, It ran like new and was only sold due to a charge circuit problem.

28K on an oil cooled GSXR...never worried about things in the engine dept..the 15 year old suspension,bushes & the like were more of a concern as I learned the craft.

140k on a BMW R45 I bought new in 1981 . It has no secrets as every part has been inspected over the years. Bought as a commuter bike, now pensioned off and used when the sun shines.

My ZX9-R Has 35,000 miles on at present and still going strong, although I am going to give it a full service soon - just for piece of mind. But it's warmed up before going anywhere and garaged - still looks in pretty good shape too!
