A picture a day....biker banter

Went to a Vintage Sportscar Club race meeting today on the bikes. After being at the VMCC meeting yesterday, it was funny seeing how different the paddock was. Vintage bikes = knackered old Transits, tents and ropey looking trailers. Vintage car club = Range Rovers, huge motorhomes and custom made race shuttles. All good fun though

I assume it's a fake one - can only see a titchy pic on my phone! They're becoming a pain in the behind. There's millions of them now, running CBR250/400 engines and they're bloody everywhere. To the extent that people aren't bothering to bring out the real ones any more as they're just swallowed up in parades of these things. The worst thing is that the owners seem to be of the opinion that they're somehow superior, because they have a "Honda four racer". No, you have a CBR250 in a dress.
I was at Mallory last year with a mate and watching these things in the collecting area (there was about 30 of them, of varying quality), and saying to him that they're all fakes. He asked how I could tell and I mentioned that they're all water cooled. His response; "that's a bit st. Bit like opening a ham sandwich and finding cheese".

I did a session with a load of fakes (I think) at the Festival 1000.
Dirty, noisy bloody things. I was covered in oil when I got back the paddock. The effing things were chucking it out through the exhausts
If there were a load, they'd have been fakes - I think there's only a handful of real ones running worldwide and I can't remember the last four I saw/heard. They're probably running ste as the engines were never designed to run open mega's!Dirty, noisy bloody things. I was covered in oil when I got back the paddock. Yep another recreation. I haven't seen many but I understand this was one of the better ones as it was aluminium tank/seat & fairing.
I'm doing a similar thing with mine now but more of my own thing with a cafe racer style (sorry Simon).
Building a cfe racer doesn't worry me at all mate, I'm all for them - my Triton was going to be an out and out Manx Norton copy - it's that these are slowly taking over from the real ones at big events, like Mallory that gets on my tits.I'm doing a similar thing with mine now but more of my own thing with a cafe racer style (sorry Simon).
The owners seem to forget that they have what's essentially a modern engine in an old style frame with new retro bodywork. They seriously seem to believe that people would rather see 40 of these (of varying degrees of build quality and accuracy to the original - some are utter ste!) than a parade of AJS 7R's, G50s, Manx's etc. Nothing could be further from the truth, from those I've spoken to
