Feel the burn!

The Blade does get used, honestly! I've nearly done 2,800 miles on it now, which is perhaps not so great in 9 months.

Shocks me to think I did 16,000 on the GSX-R600 in 17 months and 15,000 on the GSX-R750 in 20 months. At that rate, by the time I'm your age, I'll be doing about 2 miles per year :P

I've done about 60 miles this week already you cheeky fker. And the age thread is a different one.

Mind you that 60 miles is 60 more than I did last month.

One of the reasons I've not bothered chopping mine in is the limited use it gets. Too much time spent in the garage fixing things.

rsv gone!

If you had owned a Ducati you wouldn't have written that.
You are just perpetuating the myth borne out of a period in the in the 80's when the electrics were not that good. Ever since the mid 90's when the build quality was improved they are now as good as anything if they are looked after and serviced.
I don't know. My late 90s Ducati perpetuated those myths...

And my friend with an early 748 used to carry a spare regulator under his seat, just in case.

But they are supposed to be better now.

I always find the dodgy electrics on older ducati's slightly amusing, when you consider ducati started out as an electronics company... although maybe thats the reason they moved into bikes !!!

The electrics improved when they were bought by the Texas-Pacific Group in 1996 and they changed/improved the way they manufactured the bikes as well and reliability improved.

FWIW I think the Streetfighter looks the dogs dinner and I think they must have had a load of 1098's and couldn't afford to pay the people who make the bodywork so they 'streetfightered' them.
I think an 1100 Monster is a much better bike.

I sat on one a while back and was struck by how uncomfortable they were for a naked bike, mainly due to the fact that the flat bars are still about as low as a set of clip-ons. Looked like it had been thrown together from the parts bin too.

Because the KTM Superduke is the better bike.

I read a review of it in Visordown and he said that when he got to about 70-80mph it got very uncomfortable and a struggle to hang on to.

Real Men don't need fairings though. I've found that in still conditions hanging on only becomes an effort at around 110mph ...where laws allow.

Have you considered an Aprilia Tuono R or the Tuono Factory. You can get a cracking bike for less than half the cost of a Ducati Streetfighter S.
