My 14 failed the MOT on warped discs & on close inspection I've found 2mm of runout so I can't really argue.
Anyway, these look almost too cheap. Anyone used them with success? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
next step up is about £160 a side for EBC.

Never tried them, but I wouldn't hesitate. You are mechanically minded enough to keep an eye out for cracks etc and that would be the only pressing concern as I see it.

They seem too cheap to me, I don't think you can go far wrong with OE discs.

Buy cheap buy twice, maybe smile

I've not heard anything bad about them, but I've never heard anything good about a pair of discs for under £160 either.

Could you not feel 2mm of runout? one of my discs on the trx had 2mm of runout and felt terrible, it would make the forks oscillate when braking.

You can often pick up second hand disks in good nick from breakers or e-bay. I'd be wary about cheap ones, never bought any myself but know a couple of people who bought some "Stealth Products" ones and they warped within a year.

I've not used them myself but have heard good reports about All Bike Engineering:

http://www.allbikeengineering.co.uk/html/discs.htm...

I know someone who sent his old warped discs to them and they skimmed and fitted new bobbins for him and saved lots of £££.

Dave East will straighten your oe disks up, but depends how worn they are, if it is worth it or not.

If your going new, have a look at these

http://blackshadow-uk.com/default.aspx

Check the reviews for them, then judge for yourself.

Surprised me too, but no. I tried a few things once I knew of the problem to see if I could feel it. Turns out if i hold the clutch in, brake with just the front slightly more gentley than normal there is a faint feeling of grabbyness between 40 & 30mph. Nothing else.

Presumably on a floating disk you wouldn't feel a warped disk anywhere near as badly as you would on a fixed disk like on a car

I used zone a couple of times. The discs for the blade had a high spot due to a manufacturing fault and the guy rode over to my house (can't remember where from but it was a fair old way) with a replacement pair, waited while I fitted them and said I was happy with them.

Give them a call in the morning to make sure they have yours ready to go...

http://cgi3.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPa...

They very helpful people and they only sell through ebay so it's not like you're buying knock off seconds or anything.

I may be wrong, but the problem I see with those Zone disks is that they aren't Stainless Steel - they're coated Mild Steel.
Won't they go rusty once the coating starts flaking off?

For another £10-15, I can get Stainless Steel disks for my bike.

The discs on my triumph from them did when left outside all winter but the ones on the blade that was kept inside didn't as far as I recall... but yes, I guess so. What are OE discs made from?

Soggy warpy cheese I think. I'm not even a regular hard braker to have killed them.

They've arrived! Now fitted with new Kyoto pads & feel like brakes just pushing it along in the garden. They are exactly the same size as the OE discs but look a lot more meaty, I guess it's the different pattern of vent holes.

Used blackshadow myself, very reasonable price and good quality.
