BBC for me - I don't do subscription TV.

Shame if Jenny Gow is going. She started badly but improved as the season progressed - deserves another year I reckon!

All the Eurosport now need is the peanut kid back in the paddock and that's it.

I must say the Spalders has been brilliant last year, it'd be nice if Vale could do a guest spot like he did for the Germany 125 round a couple of years ago. When Vale sucks his breath in between his teeth you know it's tight on track!

Confirmed by her on Facebook:

"Just to let you know I wont be doing MotoGP for the BBC this year. Last season was an amazing experience and I met some great people. Working on some exciting new projects so will see you soon. Thank you for your support and friendship!"

No word on who the replacement is...

Personally I preferred Gow to Perry but find everyone except Matt Roberts unwatchable/unlistenable.

Eurosport all the way even with Moody's elongated vowels.

He popped up for a short bit during one of the races this year if I remember correctly. You have to love it when they get the guests in. Always very entertaining and interesting.

Matt Roberts twitter - "to all those asking yes I am still on MotoGP with BBC this year. full line-up should be confirmed next week"

So hopefully find out next week then wink

Gow was a bit rubbish to start but I also think she got better towards the end...shame (well maybe, depends on who they replace her with)

Who gives a flying feck who's presenting the Beeb coverage . .

There are 2 good things about the BBC coverage, one is Matt Roberts, after 8 yrs in the pitlane for Dorna he knows his stuff, shame he's stuck with the BBC, second is the end of the programme . . I can't keep up with the expense of throwing whatever I have to hand through the TV when that ill informed, repetetive and boring Charlie Cox waffles on a load of old tosh for an hour, interrupted by Steve Parrish occasionally who seems to have lost all enthusiasm for the sport that shaped who he is.

I got through the entire of last season without having to watch the beeb coverage. Most of the time I'm at a race meeting so record it anyway. Even if not I'll find soemthing to do for the hour before Eurosport show the MGP live . . no hardships.

I also agree that the BBC coverage of F1 is much better (excusing the ridiculous mauve trousers and Coulthards increasingly smaller and smaller shirts, and that wig of course), but it shows what can be done. Jenny knew nothing about bikes and the coverage is squarely aimed at the incidental viewer, that's why Dorna want it there as the audience is 3-5 times the size. However, that means the coverage is so lame . .

I like to think the Eurosport coverage is aimed at the bike racing fans and therefore the technical discussions and background commentary isn't about how tyres are round and black and made from rubber, where the gear shifter is and why there aren't lights on the bike . . . where as the BBC has to cater for those people new to the sport or 'incidentally viewing' and it means the commentators and presentaters seem drawn to the lowest common denominator for everything . .

For those who are not prepared to pay for subscription telly . . . unlucky you. What with full BSB, WSB, and MotoGP coverage (qually as well as racing) it's worth the subscription for that alone, that's not including some of the roads coverage and other programming. My folks only got their Sky box because of the bike racing years ago . . .

The BBC F1 coverage is so good because it has the right people doing it. Jake Humphries is the consummate professional sports journalist, who either knows his subject intimately, or at least researches it thoroughly, and is also genuinley enthusiastic.
The next great move was to secure Martin Brundle, who has walked the walk, and has the most fantastic contacts in motorsport imaginable. To be addressed by his first name by the King of Spain and various Emirs and Sultans has real kudos.
Thirdly, Eddie Jordan also has the clout to be able to go into a team's pit and drag out a new world champion, through the world's press, for an interview. There also aren't that many people who can put Bernie Ecclestone in a headlock to secure a comment.
Fourthy, David Coulthard is still close enough to the current F1 cars that he understands the technology intimatley, and is articulate enough to get that across.
Fifth, they never seem to patronise the audience, and assume a reasonable degree of understanding of the sport.
The BBC has fundamentally failed to manage it's MotoGP coverage in the same manner. It's really not necessary for the grid reporter to be female, and one has to assume that they think that bikers are all knuckle dragging cavemen who will only watch if there's some eye candy.
If the BBC can secure a recent ex-GP racer, who is also articulate, then they get my vote. Steve Parrish would be Brudle's equivalent, but someone like James Tosleland (I know, he's still racing, but just an example) can talk to the riders with recent knowledge of the sport and of the riders themselves. He might also get some sensible answers.
That all being said, Jenny Gow was hardly given the chance to improve. One year is not enough, and was probably only ever a stop gap until the BBC found the right person, I hope. We'll find out in due course.

Agreed, she was a bit shaky at first but she knows her stuff and has a good grounding in motorcycle related sport, plus she was cuter than Perry, never thought I'd say that but there you are.

Much prefer the BBC coverage than Eurosport, where the commentators drift off into side conversations about the riders and their families etc, they really ruin it for me, plus of course the endless bloody adverts for bike insurance.
