Seeking advice on new tyres

I am looking to renew the tyres on the gen4.....the same again. Michelin Pilot Sport all round but the supplier has only found super sports for the rear and pilot sport for the front.

Opinions and advice, please

I've used this lot to get several sets at very good prices. They give you tracking etc but you are not always sure what the dot code will be (i.e. how old the tyres are) unless its explicitly stated:

Delivery can take a week or so, I gather communication with the firm is lack lustre if there is an issue (but I've not had one yet).

Thanks Sssammm - I just wondered if you find the ssp is any worse than the ps in the wet.


Thanks Ginja - that gives me a good comparison. The company I use have quoted a Michelin delivered in price from France. I need confirmation on the dot.

If you can, it may pay to wait a while. The cheapest I can find is £313 each for the rear 345/40/19's and £238 for the fronts

In April this year I paid £180-ish for my rear PS2's (DOT 2013), but a month later saw some for £136 with a 2012 date.

Cheaper but older isn't a great idea, being almost 2017 a 2012 dot is going to be getting old really soon and I wouldn't want to put a old tyre on a performance car. Tyres are the one area you should spend the money as they are what keep you in the road, sure you can save a few quid but do you want the risk with your pride and joy?

So true - I agree a 100% with that sound advice.

Update - Michelin rep says they will not supply any tyre more than 2 years old, so I can live with a dot 14.....they'll be slicks before they are 4 years old.
