I'd take it to be the internal measurement across the lower fork mounting point, but would advise you to double check that with the suppliers because I'm not entirely sure. The ones I've taken off measure approx 97mm at the top of the fork, but approx 100mm at the bottom where the mounting bolts go, they're probably flared a little at the bottom to allow ease of fitting, the gap then being taken up when tightened.

So, I'm in the process of getting all the parts ordered that I need and I've decided to go with the BC Racing coil-overs. My current shocks are coming in with the 85.5mm measurement of the fork (not sure why the difference if anybody knows?) however the kit DO NOT come with the bushes for the rear (between the forks) and my OEM ones are shot! Anybody know where I can get replacements?

Thank you biggrin

I ended up going for Delrin bushes in the rear lower shock mounts (I also used Delrin for the front & rear upper control arm bushes because I couldn’t source those either). Doug Shelby and Viper Parts USA do Delrin rear shock mounts for the Gen 3 but I’m not sure if they’re available for earlier models. They’re quite pricey at a few hundred dollars so I had a local machine shop make some up for me, I also drilled through the lower shock mount casing to install a grease nipple.
I ordered some Moog K7415 rear upper control arm bushes for a 92 – 02 model after reading on Mr Google that they might fit a Gen 3, but they didn’t. If they’re of any use to anyone you can have them for the postage cost, otherwise they’re just going to collect dust in my garage.
I got the car back on the road a few nights back and took it out for a test drive so can give you a comparison between the MCS and BC coil overs. Both sets of shocks were adjusted using the initial recommended settings for track use. I found the MCS to be noticeably more compliant than the BC’s, the car was less likely to skip about when cornering fast and hard on an uneven road surface, going over speed humps was also less of a jolt. Handling in general felt better, but then again, if you wash your car it also feels better so I can’t say how much I was convincing myself. I certainly think moving to the MCS set up was not a step in the wrong direction. That said, the BC’s are great value for money and I probably wouldn’t pay the extra cost to get a ride that’s a little more compliant, I just hope they get me around Donington quicker.

Ok, so Viper10 thank you for the help! Doug Shelby Engineering have done the job for me on the lower rear shock mounts and bushings! I'm so happy, finally getting all the parts ordered, the work can start moving forward!

Link to Doug Shelby Engineering on Facebook if anybody needs bushings etc for any Gen Viper. Can't speak highly enough of Doug, his knowledge and the service he provided, first class! I'm over the moon!

Go give them a like, unless everybody already does and I'm just way late to the party! Not surprising if that's the case! Haha

So a quick update. New BC Coilovers are on, new drop links done, rear hub and knuckle sorted, new oil cooler and a/c radiator done. I'm now in need of the lower springs for the bonnet/hood. I've checked out ViperPartsofAmerica but they are out of stock, anybody any ideas where I could pick them up?

what's wrong with the hood spring?

If its not holding the hood up because someone oiled/greased it then prop the hood up to take the load off and they are quite easy to remove. once off degrease in paraffin/cleaner. Spray paint matt black getting it into the coils and all the crevices as much as possible. Getting rid of the grease and the extra friction from the matt paint has a high chance of restoring them to holding up the bonnet.

That being said anything more than peering under the bonnet to check something or show and tell I'd always prop with a suitable length stick to be sure

Are the old hinges bent?
If not then as previous poster said, degrease them (could even get them media blasted) then spray them up with a rattle can or if you really do need replacement ones then reach out to JonB at Partsrack or Ryan at Don Shcaft auto.
They may have what you are looking for. smile

If you find you don’t like the Coilovers I’ll would love to buy them as I’ve been looking for a set since I bought my car 2 years ago and missed these by two days (you have no idea how gutted I was lol)

No mate, got mine brand new and for the £820, they aren't much more in price than the second hand ones you saw. Worth the investment I'd say!

I had bc Coilovers on my challenger Srt8 and it was so much better, car was used daily and I out 70k miles on it and they were fine, made the car a lot more stable at high speed cornering and firmed it up a treat
