AUGUST 3rd - The Ultimate Car Shootout
Elvington, York see’s the return of this successful event, on a similar format as last year, a handling course which takes about 35 seconds to complete with plenty of run off room and nothing to hit. A 0-1.2 mile timed sprint, which saw times in 2002 of 175 mph for Nadine’s and Sarah’s vipers and 0-500 metre dash taking just over 12 seconds. You can run as many times as you wish weather permitting. Cars go up the runway 2 at a time with Christmas tree starter lights, one lane finishes at 500 metres and the other continues to 1.2 miles before braking (hard). Other 200 bhp+ cars will be there, in 2002 victory went to a highly modded Skyline which ran 198 mph up the runway. Costs at the moment is estimated at £85, and includes a very professional DVD/VHS video for all the entrants for more info check www.trackdayplus.com.

There are four Corvettes from Basingstoke going to Elvington. Two ZR1`s, a Z06 and a C5. Going up Saturday and staying in a hotel. Are any of the Viper owners staying up there for the Sat nite and if so have you booked a hotel yet? It would be nice if we could all stay at the same place. Jan.
