OK, I’ve read loads of threads about poor running, low power and dodgy Idling. I have had my Lambda sensors and Stepper Motor replaced and after an ECU reset it now seems to tick over and run better, however I still have flat spot.

All the threads seem to point to the Throttle Pots. I’ve already spent loads on the car this month and was wondering if replacing the Throttle Pots it a job I could attempt.

1. Where are they
2. How do I replace them?
3. Do they require any setup?

No idea how easy it is on a TVR but it's a cinch on a citroen! That was held on by two bolts and was a case of unplugging the electrical connector, unbolting the two bolts and remove. Took about 5 minutes to do and there was no calibration needed. I'll have a look this weekend on the Chimaera and see if it looks any different. As it's such a quick job might be worth asking for it to be done at next service... the pot itself isn't cheap (about £75) so you won't save yourself much by doing it yourself (unless there's a book price for replacement).

Had a look at Peter Beech's Workshop Notes and couldn't find anything other than what readings you should get from throttle pot (at bottom of page).

Confucious he say " man who replaces components in fuel injection system based on "might be this" is the motor factor's friend"

You have said it yourself that you have spent a lot of money already and while it might be the throttle pot, it could also be the air flow meter, temp sensors, fuel pressure regulator and so on. You can't test these components easily as all multimeter tests prove is that there is no o/c or s/c but not that there is not a fault.

Yes it is easy to change. It is not that expensive (relatively) but you seem to be in danger of replacing the injection system by stealth. It might be easier to get the professionals in.

Mine had been running shitty since Xmas, but last week one of the rocker covers started leaking on the right hand bank as you look from the front of the engine. so I decided to change the cover gasket, in the process I remove the plemun chamber cover, once new gasket was fitted and everything re installed. the car ran perfect, in fact never so good, I must have had a bad seel on the Plenum. However I drover the car all over the west country this weekend and the fan switch failed! and it's only a couple of months old! still got 155 on spedo last night J12 M4 so must be OK!!!

Cheers

Guess It goes to a garage then. Anyone know someone in maidenhead I can use? I use my car every day and work in maidenhead, so it would be easier If I could drop it somewhere and walk to work.
