Chim 400 - Tune Resistor
Discussion
Hi all,
I've got a Chimaera 400 that's running a little bit poorly at the moment. I've had some diagnostics carried out and got error 21 which from memory was "Fuel resistor out of range".
Anyway, I'm looking to replace the resistor but I've no idea where to start looking. I found one website that wanted £20 for a single resistor which seems very expensive as I'm sure I've read on here that they're no more than £5.
Would anyone be able to advise the best place to buy them from?
Thanks.

I had an odd code 21 fault, checked out resistor which was in range, cleaned plug connections but still got the same fault (resistor plugs into main wiring loom to ECU, light blue plug and white wires in a clear plastic cover). Did an internet search, that suggested code 21 was thrown up due to AFM fault. Removed AFM plug, cleaned pins and checked for good connection, fault cleared. On further checks AFM voltage values were out of spec on start up, so AFM replaced.

If you know the resistance and its power handling values then http://www.maplin.co.uk/ or http://uk.rs-online.com can sought you out, cant remember the values but Blitzracing on this very forum may help you out
Yes Maplins is your friend. I got one for the V8S for a few quid if I recall correctly.Dont believe that fault code, it gets thrown up pretty regularly for some reason, even though the tune resistor is perfectly OK. Problem is its enough to throw the ECU in to limp home mode, so you first need to do an ECU reset and see if the fault reoccurs. For cars running catalysts you dont actually need a tune resistor, as an open circuit will default to the catalyst fuel tune map anyway. If you want to check it, its found poking out of the ECU wiring loom in the passenger foot well, but not all looms have them. (hence the default catalyst map setting). You can simply measure it with a test meter, and it should read around 3900 ohms.
If you do want to change it, its 26p at Maplins, but you will have to join it to the current connector.
Maplin part number M3K9
