seriously why on earth would you want gas on a tiv/sports car sorry dont get this one at all?
I have decided against it because it wouldn't end up as I would want it for all sorts of reasons I posted earlier in the thread.

But - if it could be done in such a way that the car remained essentially the same, it could be used the same way and fuel costs were halved would it be such a bad idea? Paying half as much for something doesn't make it less enjoyable, in fact you could argue paying double for the same thing is a mugs game.

You pays your tax you takes your choice I guess.

I think the point is as much interest to see if it can be done ...

It has already been done before, but the real question is can it be done in such a way that the car can be enjoyed the same way without it changing it too much from original.

IMO based on the layout of the car etc the answer to that is no, which is the only reason I haven't done it.

That said, good luck to anyone open minded enough to think outside the box and do it if it works for them smile

Perhaps a new topic should be started about gas, as it's completely unrelated to the original question!

I have already asked the mods if they could kindly split it in half starting a new thread on LPG but not sure if they are able to do that.

Hi all.

I'm afraid we can't split threads. We can merge threads, close threads, move threads and even reinstate accidentally deleted posts from threads...but we can't split into two new ones.

Sorry frown

Got to say the engine bay does look very clutted with the LPG conversion.

Teetertank has done the conversion(on megasquirt) and uses it on a daily basis ,he has a massive tank in the boot .

Roof will still come out, just loose the boot stay or make a longer one.. then it just lifts out .

IIRC there was quite a worrying venting issue with that installation.

Wasn't it like this?

De-restricted LPG tank in the boot, that's filled & vented inside the boot too.

  • Driver fills de-restricted 60 litre tank with 60 litres of LPG
  • LPG expands on a hot day
  • Tank vents expanded gas to boot void
  • Boot void fills with vented LPG
  • Driver parks up on his local high street
  • Random bloke walks past and sparks up a cigarette
