Turbo upgrade on RV8

might just do that! you ever thought of coming up to Curborough for one of the days a lot of us have done? would be very interested to see how much difference it makes! I cant decide between Turbo or Tuscan atm lol
It would be interesting, as at present driver skill and handling, rather than outright power, seem to define the best times. You have been the fastest Chimaera, Jony, with the lowest powered TVR, but the yellow Tuscan a couple of months ago was about as fast (on a slower day) as your fastest time on a faster day, and had us all well impressed with his driving skill and
And the LS Tamora was only as quick as me.
The fastest cars have been the high powered Caterfields in the right hands, but that Z4M SC (520 bhp and good tyres) was slower than all the TVRs. It would indeed be interesting to see what time Mac could do in the pocket rocket. PM me if you want more details, Mac.

Looking into the idea of buying a used Rangie 4.6 and rebuilding it for turbo... keep my rather excellent V8D lump as is... so far man maths are suggesting that in the longer term this would have far less negative impact on the wallet..... Any thoughts fellas?

Kit turbo or home brew? I'm currently searching for a daily driver Chimaera to replace my previous V8 MG. I've test driven a 450 and 400, and would like to add a turbo to either. The forum seems to conclude that around 350bhp gives a reasonable balance between power and durability. The 400 gives me a cheaper ownership entry, while the 450 matches my old car with more go while I'm waiting for a turbo installation.
My question is, which engine provides the better base (for strength/durability vs. power/torque potential), given that all other aspects (condition, ignition, etc) remain equal? I'd upgrade to a Canems ECU or similar, so recommendations there too please, if you have time.
What other mechanical upgrades should I plan for to cope with the increase in power?
Your information will help me decide which version to look for as a base vehicle.
I've been in touch with TVRPower, but Eann Whalley seems to have dropped out of sight. Does anyone have contact information for him if he's still producing turbo kits?
Many thanks for your time.
