I have just bought a Griff and it seems to me that my a/c is not working at all, even though the little blue light comes on. Is this a common problem that is easily solved? Secondly it seems to me that I cannot direct the air flow at all - it just seems to come out of everywhere evenly.
You need to check that the compressor is working. This is driven by a elctromagenetic cluctch and a common fault is for the system to degas itself. This triggers a pressure sensor that disconnects the circuit that energises the magents that engage the clutch that get driven by the fanbelt that turn the compressor.
Open the bonnet. Switch everything on and then see if the compressor is driven.
If not apart from from chceking fuses and relays, trip to a delear or A/C specialist.

The prospect of something as complex as air-con working on a TVR brings a wry smile to my face. I mean, if they can't make a speedo or a fuel gauge work properly.... According to my Viz Profanisaurus the chances of success are 'FADS' - 'F*ck All Divided by Six' (also the value of any Citroen over 3 months old, it says).

I bought my Griff six weeks ago with non-working a/c. The dealer said it would be prohibitively expensive to sort, as it required a new compressor and other parts. Anyone know if I can get second hand parts anywhere? Whose components do TVR use for the system?
Would love to get the a/c going if possible - the cabin heat can get pretty intense.

I had a friend of mine re-gas the air-con on my car last week. It worked very well for about 2 days, but now it's packed up again.
Obviously there is a leak somewhere, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any part of the system which is most likely to be the culprit.
It would be nice to get it working again!!

As steve says earlier,the most likely cause is depressurisation caused by a leak - or the fact that it has probably NEVER been serviced or re-gassed in its life!! Mine is down to a great big hole in the condenser (radiator) obtained on a run up thru France (at high speed!)
Peninsula look after my car and will be doing this. they are independant tvr and A/C service centre so hopefully it won't be too expensive. preliminary chats suggest a different (smaller) condenser to be used (out of a cheaper car, I think originals are Range Rover) which should improve airflow, cooling without compromising A/C operation.
A/C does work in a Griff 500, mine was great before this. took about 5 mins to pressurise but once going -no probs.i'll put a better stone guard on again to stop damage - had to take mine off prior to this, but thats another story!!!!!!!!!
