Paint Code

The paint code on the plate under the bonnet is P420-8870 which I believe is a non metallic Cobalt Blue. I can find P147-8870 in the forums which is a Nexus 2K but when ordered is much darker. Can anyway advise of the colour please?

P422-8RG3B is the ici code, p147 is the manufactures code.

What paint did you get it in??

Can't find P420-8870 in any if the lists. Just checked the service book and its written in as Cobalt blue.

Might be why!
The car was original painted in ICI from factory now know as Nexa. From the ICI site there is three different ways to mix the paint all of which will slightly effect the colour.
P422-AAE3B is the 2 k basecoat code which I would try first in ICI
P471-8870 which is direct gloss HS
Then there's p420-8870 which is direct gloss

Touching in for now but sprayed when I've done everything else in about a years time.

Did you have any joy in finding out where to get some paint ?

I tried a few paint factors and they could not match the code.

I got my Starmist Blue paint made up by Chris Brown in Downham Market. Matched perfectly

Hi Paul,

a mate used a gizmo to examine the paint and determine the mix....i think its a bit like B&Q use when you want a specufic colour. Still waiting for the paint to arrive though! Will keep you posted.
