I'm about to splash out on a Zymol Titanium Starter Kit, (pre-cleaner, titanium wax, leather treatment and various applicators), for my Chimaera, but was wondering if anyone else has had experience of the products and the results that they produce?

If so, do you consider them worth the extra cost over similar products from Autoglym and other well known manufacturers?

The Titanium Wax was of particular interest, as they claim that it reduces stone chip damage, and can even be beneficial for cars used on the track.

Any information would be appreciated, before I send them my cheque for £109.99

Thanks.

When I contacted Zymol a few month sago they recommended their Ital Wax (see their e-mail reply below) - is this a bit cheaper perhaps than Titanium? Rich...

Thank you for your enquiry. The most appropriate wax for your TVR is Ital
Wax. Ital was developed with and for Ferrari North America. It contains a
massive 47% Carnauba, gives a fantastic shine that really lasts. It is most
appropriate because it was designed for gel coat over composite bodywork and
has a large amount of flexing agent incorporated into it.

May I suggest you look at an Ital & Treat Starter Kit (Ital & Vinyl if you
do not have a leather int'), Tyre and a Wheel Clean Kit. This will give you
everything you require to totally zymöl your TVR inside and out including
waxing the wheels!

Thanks Plotloss. It sounds good in the article, although I get enough kids leaving grubby finger prints on the car already, without making it smell like a chocolate and banana milkshake!

Rich, thanks for the info from Zymol. Did you actually buy any in the end?

I looked at the comments on the Ital product, but it didn't mention the stone chip protection as with the Titanium.

I use Carbon Wax on my Le Mans blue 1999 Griff (having done all the washing and HD Cleansing thing). I find Zymol to be excellent -a really good shine which lasts longer than other polishes (rain water 'beads' for much longer) - and it shrugs off dirt much better. For example - dead flies, even 'dried-on/well cooked' ones come off really easily once you have used the wax.

Zymol recommend Ital wax for fibreglass cars, but my carbon stuff (bought for a Subaru) works really well.

The wax lasts for ages - it takes a fraction of what you would use out of a bottle of e.g. Autoglymn for a single application on the car. The high cost is therefore not as high per application as you might think.

And it smells really good!!

Funnily enough I was just about to order a pack on the website. The Ital pack is £109.99 and comes with free delivery. Apparently it is good for Italian cars (I feel like I am being had!) and I checked previous threads using the search facility and everyone seems to rate it highly. I was thinking of also getting the Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection to see what it is like as there seems to be toss up between the two, but I think the Zymol has the advantage.

I applied Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection to my Chimaera less than a month ago, and the car already has several marks on it that won't wash off and apparently require more polish to shift!

The dead flies also seem to be attached with superglue!

Thanks! I'll give the Autoglym a miss then.

Is synthetic Chamois better than the real thing? I am about to order one to see what its like. My shopping cart is nice and full now and I am about to pay with the credit card. I think PH is owed some commission! I mentioned I got the idea from PH since seeing a nicely written report on Zymol and receiving recommendations from members.

Regards

The synthetic chamois (from Autoglym) that I use is superb. I used to use a very expensive leather chamois and it took Ages to dry the car down (15-20mins going over the car 3-4 times until completely dry). With the synthetic once to get rid of the excess water and another to completely dry the car - can't beat it.

Also rinses dry in seconds rather than minutes, so cuts down total washing/cleaning time by almost half.

Has anyone here used one of those rubber (v soft) squigee things from Autoglym? Mate with a Rarri swears by it, says its much better than a leater for drying the large flat areas, bonnet, boot etc?

I added one of those, (Hydro-blade?), to my collection of Autoglym products a few months ago. It's OK, but you still need to finish off with a leather if you want to avoid water marks in the more difficult areas.

Over the last 15 years or so, I've used every major brand - Autoglym, Mer, Turtlewax, Simonize etc. None of them comes close to Zymol in terms of ease of use, finish and longevity. Because its a natural wax, there is no abbrasion and no residue to remove. The flys are still falling off the paint after nearly 6 weeks. The initial HD-cleanse step is a pain, but you only have to do this every 6 months (or longer if the car is pampered).
The leather treat appears to do a very good job of keeping the leather supple and maintains the original colour.

A very pricey, but top quality product.

No I didn't buy the Zymol stuff yet, simply because my stock of Autoglym was topped up at Christmas (thanks boys), I also have one of those Autoglym hydro-foil things and the only thing I would say is, be VERY carfull not to get the slightest spec of grit on it as you will leave a nice long scratch down your paintwork. Mind you they do shift water of you are in a hurry!

As a cheap alternative to the AutoGlym blade thing, use a wiper blade, but make sure its clean!

You don't really need to be told that over £100 is a complete rip off do you? It may be good but it's not good value.
