Rev Limiter/ Shift up
Discussion
Light in the Revometer Dial.
Mine has the bulb in it with the two wires, but what would be involved in wiring it up.
Obviously ther is allready a rev limiter but would i need to buy some sort of kit like they do at www.demontweeks.co.uk to get this to work.
Not that i really need it but if its there it might be usefull as i have hit the limiter a few times not realising i had reached 6k and a flashy light might help.

If the howl of the oil pump drive shredding itself, and the clatter of the lifters pumping up haven't woken you up, do you honestly think a little flashing LED in the corner of a dial is going to wake you up? To get your attention in the heat of the moment you need a Big Flashing Light somewhere close to your line of sight. The aftermarket shift lights are generally designed to be installed on top of the dash so they are pretty obvious.
I agree that it unlikely to be noticable if you are really going for it but it would be nice to have it working (I hate things which are installed but don't work, which is a shame considering I own a TVR
The rev gauge is driven electronically so presumable something in parrallel with the rev gauge feed should work. Let me know if you find a solution.
I was thinking of replacing mine with a dual colour LED, yellow at 3000rpm for "are you sure you want to engage reheats" and red at 5800rpm for "stop pi**ing about now"

Pete is right as you won't see it on the Rev counter as th filter makes it a bit indistictive. Had it on the CErbera and it was better than nothing. Just.
I have one on the Griff and all you will need is a OMEX or similar shift light unit that attaches electronically to the coil and drives a LED. I use a big "10mm instant sunburn" one on the 520 and two "3mm let's make toast" ones either side of top of the steering column cowl. Both of them are easily visible.
