I am planning a trip next month from Northern Ireland to Perugia (Umbria) next month in my Chimaera next month. Has anyone else done a similar trip? if so have you found any TVR friendly garages en route(France, Italy) just in case I get any problems.
Mark
Take an emergency spare kit with you, to include fan belt, ht leads, throttle cable, etc. That way you should cover most problems.
I had a melted HT lead when crossing the Dolomites last year - managed to get a replacement from a Land Rover dealer in Florence. Bloody good service and very cheap labour rates.......
Don't forget that in some countries you have to carry various items in the car - warning triangles, spare fuel, spare glasses (compulsory in Switzerland even if you wear contact lenses), etc.
Never needed a TVR garage on the continent (the chimaera ran well both times).
take the spares suggested, with spare relays for the fuel pump.
If you do need a garage, I would suggest a Landrover garage as they are most likely to speak english and have rover V8 parts. Never tried it, but does stand to reason.
You'll have a ball!

Another one here who took their Chim over to Italy with all the spares and brought them all back with us again - not a hint of a problem the whole trip. How about some AA 5* / RAC European cover, just in case? Ours cost about £50 for the fortnight, I think. English speaking advisers at the end of the phone, might be easier than trying to track down a Landie garage in the middle of nowhere-?
Bet you had an amazing time over there in the Tuscan, Neil! The Chim got loads of attention so must've been a blast in yours....
Which way are you going, Mark?
