Didn't think you could do the boot release thing because the feed isn't a permenant live
In the end it is all a question of having lots of electrons in one place, not enough in another and a nice wire between them
They have an alarm activated relay that feeds power direct to the solenoid.

I've resigned to a new system now. Not looking forward to having some oily apprentice climbing all over my magnolia leather!
Whereabouts in SE are you? There's an alarm centre in Herts that has done quite a few TVRs, (Griffs and Chimaeras). Might be worth travelling there even if you aren't that close.
They even cleaned mine.

Hi guys,
Just got back from what turned out to be a very short 2 weeks away, work not holiday! Went out to the car with my wife's clicker and nothing happened! So I sat in the car and tried it again and the system seemed to re-set itself and now it is working correctly. Altohugh it does seem that someone has dissconnected the siren! Hmmmmm!
I'm wondering if the fact that they took the stereo out before selling it could have anything to do with my problems?? Steve - any ideas? I understand from other threads that it is on the same circuit as the locking etc.?????
I must say that I'm sorry that you are all having the same problem - but!!! it's nice to know I'm not out there on my own!
Angusfaldo - could you please tell me where this garage is as I am in Hitchin and the dealer wants £69.50 + VAT ! per hour just for the labour!
Cheers all and thanks again for all the response - this is the sort of thing that money just can't buy.

Ring the dealer up and tell them that they should have sorted all of this out before you picked the car up. I'm suprised that they are going to charge you to sort out the little niggles after only a few weeks of ownership.
Removing the sterea shouldn't directly affect anything but the cables can be disturbed.
The the car battery has gone flat then the alrm may reset itself and charging the battery will often rectify things. If the siren is not working, it could be simply due to the connector being pulled out of the alarm unit.

To nashy and Graham B,
The Meta M99T went loopy on my 98S Chim 400. You can disconnect the siren, but to stop the hazards flashing, you have to disconnect the indicator connections from the Meta box behind the dash? If you know how!
It takes a day to replace the unit and re-programme bits and you will need new fobs that should come as part of the replacement unit.

Except that they are no replacement units so it is a new system.

That's right - the whole system has to be replaced
