Hello all...
My '95 Chim is due for its 60k service soon and I am thinking about taking it to a non-TVR garage. I have found a place that services TVR's and the owner used to work for a TVR dealer so knows what he's doing. HOwever, I am a little concerned at what 'damage' this would do to the resale value of the car. It does have a FTVRSH but I don't have any intention of selling for sometime, and wonder just what good a FTVRSH actually does for a car of this age. Any advice/comments would be most welcome.

I would say that a recognised independent TVR specialist servicing the car wouldnt affect the resale, however a garage where there's someone who used to work at a TVR dealership, but the garage isn't recognised as a TVR specialist is a different matter.

Don't know where you are based but Peninsula Automotive are a good choice in the South West, they offer weekend break packages as well.
Give Richard or Neil a call on 01884 35341, good service.

Strat,

I would say the RECOGNISED is the key word. There have many discussions re this and most people would happily buy if the history was recognised indepentant - in some cases this is seen as pref to main dealer (the specialists have a reputation of more care in some cases).

However a name I didn't recognise would put me off. As to the cars age if it was over three years old I would be happy with independant stamps, even though my car is ten years old I wouldn't have bought it without a full history.

Cheers,
JSG
