Hellooooo,

Bit of advice needed if poss. 4.0 96 Chim. The problem being that cruising below 1700 ish revs it seems to kangaroo abit, letting you're foot off the accelerator produces an incrreased effect which then causes the diff to knock (annouying). I've had the stepper motor off/cleaned, dizzy off etc no change, am using the Shell Optimax.

Any ideas, before I start taking things apart. Plus is the knock likely to be the diff/prop shaft etc. I need to get to the bottom of this (driving me nuts)

Plus (not finished yet), I've recently had the steering rack seal replaced (was pi##ing fluid everywhere). That's now fine, steering is smooth lock to lock, the problem is it whines alot. Normally this is the passanger. I can live with the powersteering whine but just woundering if there is a way quietening it down a tad.

Regards
Darren

Mine was doing the kangaroo thing when I got it a few months ago. (98 Chim 450) It seemed to be running a little rich.. it was. I took it back to Fernhust and they found a temp sensor bad (causing the chip to dump in too much fuel) the second thing was I starting filling up with ONLY Shell Optimax. After a few tank fulls, it has made a huge diff. I can now putter through town at 30 mph with no problem. I can putter down my street in first gear (lots of kids) with no problem.

Cheers

I usually use my pitching wedge in the street as I find the it provides more control than the putter!!

I thought you meant 'potter' and not 'putter!'

My Chimeara is pretty much the same at lower speeds.Having driven a couple of these cars I was of the understanding that was just the way they are, because of the cam settings.I have started using Optimax and this has smoothed it out a bit.
