He's in Honk Kong according to profile, I'm in KL for work this week, maybe I could fly to HK, buy it for next to nothing and drive it home to the UK?

Anyone fancy sponsoring a ride to the Far East?

When looking to buy a chimp 3 years or so ago I almost bought a yellow 430 BV for just under 10k. Went for a 450 for similar money, can only see 430 going up in price.

Is it just me or are Chimaera prices falling again? Griffith prices seem to have dropped too. Wedge prices on the up fast however.

Just looked on Carandclassic and there are 42 Chims for sale. Some of the 400s seem very cheap to me. The dealers still ask high prices but now seems a good time for buyers.

There are over 2500 Chimaera 4.0 models out there so it doesn't surprise me that their prices are not as high as they were. Some owners are 'flying a kite' really with their asking prices IMHO, especially the condition of some of the ones I went to look at in July. It's Sept on Friday so the best seller's period may be over?
The new model may or may not have resulted in prices rising or it may have been a coincidence, but TVR has more visibility than it did and many of those interested are new to the marque. My last Chimaera was owned from 2013 - 2017 and the prices were already rising in 2015. I wasn't fortunate to get one at the bottom of the market which seemed to be in about 2011 / 2012 according to owners I've talked to. New potential owners will inevitably sway towards buying from a dealer / specialist because they don't know enough or are not confident enough to buy private. They are therefore able to charge quite elevated prices for even 4.0 litre models.

A very tired Chimaera went through Brightwells in April (L921 NJO, a shed really, but with a new MoT somehow) for over £7k. The same car went back through in August with new mirrors but nothing else done. Didn't even reach the reserve (less than £6k I think). I sensed a "what have I done?" with that car.

What is it about TVR owners that makes them so keen to talk down the prices?

I often see comments to the effect of 'looks like our old junk is going down again'.

I doubt I'd find so much of that on other marque forums.
