Spent a chilly hour upside down in the footwell changing the clutch master cylinder spring and seal cartridge after an OEM spring broke on Christmas Eve. Seal kits easy to find on Ebay (part 50691 matches Girling 0.7 inch cylinder - Hilman Imp- but there are loads of others); springs not so readily found but Associated Springs part C6000552750 drops right in. As usual, bore absolutely fine so no need to disturb the cylinder.
Are you sure thats the proper way to do things Gary? my longest reseal lasted 8 years + and I have done 4 in situ on various Tivs, I only freshened up mine again inc slave part of the engine makeover and glad I did the spring was fatigued and ready to break I fitted this whole kit inc spring http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BEDFORD-HA-Brake-Master-... sorted phazed said:
Finished this a few days ago.
Did sort of similar a couple of weeks ago but changed standard battery for a Odyssey PC950 battery & Powervamp alloy bracket. Re-positioned mounting to front of passenger footwell and gained at least 4" of legroom, enough for 5'11" wife & 6'daughter to get in comfortably with plenty of legroom (although not together !).phazed said:

Removed the standard battery and box, purchased a bey Varley Red Top battery and dedicated bracket and fitted above the fuel tank.
I also fitted a battery cut out switch for convenience.
I took the opportunity while the carpets were up to fit some 15mm sound deadening material.
All went well but took a couple of days in all!
One small thing is bothering me - so you throw the switch to isolate the battery and shut the boot......how do you switch it on again? I am being dim, clearly, but I cannot see how the boot opemning solenoid works without the battery connected?Removed the standard battery and box, purchased a bey Varley Red Top battery and dedicated bracket and fitted above the fuel tank.

Richard do you have the details/a part number for the alloy bracket that fits the PC950 battery please?Hope your fuel filler has a good seal on it Pete, if the switch can spark at all?
Like the idea of relocating the battery and fuse block; but thinking maybe right in front of the passenger seat could be a good location for the battery to avoid longer cable runs... a gel battery in a suitably covered box could be pretty unobtrusive but accessible and not impede leg room at all. Can't think when the passenger seat was last moved so no concerns about that. Fuse board then in the recess behind the seat...

The cut off will only be used for maintenance and as far as I can see, the unit is sealed.Like the idea of relocating the battery and fuse block; but thinking maybe right in front of the passenger seat could be a good location for the battery to avoid longer cable runs... a gel battery in a suitably covered box could be pretty unobtrusive but accessible and not impede leg room at all. The new gel battery spins the starter over at least as fast as the HD original.
I used a cable with a CS of 35mm sq, standard is 25mm sq iirc.
I can't put anything behind the seats as they have fixed backs!
More legroom.
