Got my new 7" Windows tablet synced with my Canems ECU for convenient engine data viewing without the need for a cumbersome laptop on the passenger seat.

I like your idea of checking for roll cage continuity with a multimeter

Drove to the MOT station. First time out in 12 months.

Failed!

1 you can't have a honeycomb reg plate on the back anymore. New plate on the way.

2 unable to open passenger door from the outside. They are fiddling to fix this but it raises a question.

The solenoids and central locking are playing up. I have no alarm but do have the immobiliser. How do I get hold of Carl Baker, what do I want to install and roughly what should I expect to pay?

Carl is/was on www.tvruk.tv (as far as I remember). He lives in France, but comes over here regularly and works at Taylor TVR in Kent I think.

If your car is registered before 1/9/2001 (your profile shows your car as a 1994? - same as mine) then the honeycomb number plate is legal. From 2001 it is not.

Quote from the MOT manual:

3. On vehicles first registered on or after 1 September 2001, check that the registration plates
a. display the name and postcode of the supplying outlet
b. display a BSAU145d marking
c. do not display a honeycomb or similar effect background

As you seem to know, the passenger door not opening is most likely the solenoid failed. Easy to replace if you can use a soldering iron. It is located just behind the door latch in the body.
As to the central locking, that won't work if the pin switches aren't detecting the doors properly shut.
