What did you do in the garage yesterday?

I had the lovely job of re-fixing my cigarette lighter -trickle charger in the drivers arm rest. Somehow the outer casing had unscrewed itself from the lighter part, and fell inside the door panel. I took the speaker out (easy bit),tried to get my arm in to feel for the nuts ,no way could I find a way of getting my arm in and could only feel the nut up above the speaker hole. Ten minutes of swearing and head scratching I managed to prize the bottom of the arm rest away from the door and wedge a pair of pliers in the gap to hold it open . Then with the aide of a piece of wooden beading I lined the casing of the lighter up with the screw in bit and screwed it in .10 seconds job done ! I hate to think how long it would have taken to remove and refit the dreaded door panel .
Its a pity you don't live a lot closer to me. I've had the door panels off several times on mine now for various jobs. Its a doddle It also helps if you have arms like a spider monkey.....

It doesn't make any sense at all unless there are different pressure plates and you have a lighter duty one.
Doubt that, the whole point of twin plate is doubling the friction area without having extra strong pressure plate, just doesn't add up. Need to getv to tye bottom of this First update for a while from me but.... heads now off to try and finally isolate the cooling problem I've had since revising inlet manifold plumbing in the spring. Pulling the I/M showed no signs of leaks or gasket failure so next obvious stop was the heads and will re-ring/re-shell it too.
Was hoping, frankly, to find an obvious HGF but, needless to say, not a hint.... sooo, seem to be inching toward a conclusion that, somehow, combustion pressure is getting past the HG and behind the liners (so into water jacket if block casting has any flaws, which they do). Only thing is it is (or was at least) a good seasoned block with well fitted top-hats.... so, should be bullet proof.
Must say, the chambers were showing no signs of washing/steam cleaning and no mayo issues in the oil, but something was blowing coolant out. Bit stumped currently and really not wanting to put it back together and into a refreshed chassis only to have to re-build again if/when it fails...
Suggestions on a post-card please!
Good news (yay) is pistons, chambers and bores in tip-top condition - no signs of det after 2+years of FI abuse

When do you get the cooling problem? All the time, or just when you poke it with a sharp stick? Was hoping, frankly, to find an obvious HGF but, needless to say, not a hint.... sooo, seem to be inching toward a conclusion that, somehow, combustion pressure is getting past the HG and behind the liners (so into water jacket if block casting has any flaws, which they do). Gary. When I had a crack in the block behind a liner, lost coolant through the crack and then from the gap in between the base of the liner and the block.
Obviously something that you cannot see until the liner is removed.
My very obvious symptom was huge amounts of mayo in the rocker covers.
You haven't got this so the likelihood of water escaping into the block/sump is unlikely/impossible otherwise you would have a major mayo problem as well!
A leaking head gasket from a waterway into one of the bores seems to be a very likely cause. Anywhere else and you would see it externally.

Now why didn't I think of that? Could have spent the summer driving instead of trying endless variations of plumbing...
Hmm, ask a stupid question,, sos bloke. Have you gone back to original plumbing then.
