Did you do all this on axle stands! What a game at this time of year.
Yes, on those nice pink ones the wife bought. wink

Took the front grille out and resprayed it, cleaned out the debris while in the front opening and fitted LED indicator bulbs so it acts like an Audi now. Cleaned up some of the dust and repainted the detachable cross member. Then my short attention span failed me so I went back to the old Rover.

I don't mind frozen hands working outside in the cold. You feel no pain when you bash your knuckles.

A few minor jobs on Wendy. Refitted the spark plug socks. Renewed the neoprene pads on the bonnet. Fixed the door panel speaker grilles too.

Unfortunately, found some more vandalism and had to (clear) tape up a damaged rear light cluster. This on top of the slashed half cover from last week - being fixed by Mr Ziga. There really are some scummy people out there.

3 1/2 years ago I acquired some burgundy Elise seats and fitted them temporarily to my chim as the originals were so awful.

Temporary turned to semi-permanent unfortunately!

I then acquired a pair of cloth covered Elise seats for next to nothing and gave them to the very talented Mr Zigazagga

He has trimmed them in blue and Magnolia leather to match the interior of my car complete with a carbon effect cloth to cover the bare rear of the seats. They look bloody fantastic.

I have placed them on top of my existing seats just to show the effect. This and a few other mods are part of my list of winter things to do to the car. I will fit them on a pair of sliding runners that I have.

Over the moon with the results.

Nice one Peter thumbup

Like you I was never happy with my original seats so I've been running Jag XJS Recaros for almost a year now, these suit my requirements for a cost effective and more supportive quality leather seat in the GT theme, while retaining a period 90's look.

Like you and your Elise seats I like the Jag XJS seats so much I've ended up with two sets, one scruffy set to get the fit right that I've been running for a while now with great success.

And one better set that I've been restoring to as new condition and colour matching in original Doe Skin with a Furniture Clinic kit.

Here are the restored backs and headrests, just the bases and removable squab cushions to finish the job off.....

You mean this stuff Alun? http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equi...

It's not bad and I use something similar bt in a "mechanics Mat" one piece thing that my missus bought for me for tenner at a show went to. alos have a second one that was scrounged from Snap-on's waste skip by a mate as it was damaged and unsaleable.

Saves the knees and creaky joints for us oldies eh Al?
Hi Alan.
Yes that’s the stuff wink

Cheap enough and upto the job for a home mechanic who has to lie on the floor. I’ve got one of those mechanics trolleys you lie on but you need the car so high I’ve hardly ever used it.

Turbo, pipework, and gubbins out of the way so marked up and modified the cross-member that's getting in the way of the actuator now that the engine has been raised. Trial fit and looking good so treated the metal. Tomorrow will paint it and clean and paint the chassis rail that's a bit burnt too. Rustoleum at the ready.

Trial fit with the supercharger today, worked the numbers too, should be near 600 bhp and torque..... reliability may be an issue but hoping not... chassis going to be candy apple red... sound will be epic biggrin

Hi, can you tell me what Furniture Clinic shade you're using please? I have Doe Skin seats too and they need refurbished / replaced so knowing the colour would be handy for when that time comes. Cheers!

Chassis rail driver's side cleaned up with emery cloth then liberally coated with Rustoleum. Bit of housework cleaning the chassis at the front before refitting the turbo. Engine mountings all tightened down and good clearance between the turbo actuator and the top chassis rail. Now have an even gap both sides between the exhaust manifolds and the rails - just about get my fingers in there now so hopefully no more chassis vibration and no more paint damage. wink

After being out of action for the last two weeks due to this awful cough and cold that's doing the rounds I ventured into the garage for a couple of hours.

Removed the breather pipes from flame traps to catch tank and renewed them in black silicon.
Awaiting P clips to neatly secure breather pipe to wing.
Jacked up the front in preparation of mounting a servo for the clutch.

Still to do before it goes back on the road.

Fit clutch servo and all the ball ache that goes with it!
Cut and relocate vertical legs of roll bar so they don't interfere with my new seats.
Fit new seats on runners rather than bolting them direct to the floor.
Fit new diff that is sitting patiently in the corner of the garage.

Went inside and made a pot of tea and cut a slab of Christmas cake lick

With these cars, if you are bored then there's always something that you can find to modify or upgrade!

Good work, though it's unfortunate that you have to fit a servo to a twin plate clutch scratchchin Anyway, all the best 'n all that for New Year party

though difficult to understand why you have to fit a servo to a twin plate clutch scratchchin
Because it is sooo heavy!

Anyone that has driven it has commented on how heavy it is.

It was heavy with the original 7/8 bore slave.
Updated slave to 1" bore, couldn't really notice any difference. Still supa heavy.

I do believe that there are different weight clutch covers. I got mine from Real Steel and they state that they only do one, ( yours was from them?) but of course anything is possible.

In fact it feels as heavy as my old Mcleod singly plate, ( covers look identical).

Single plate rated at 350bhp, twin plate rated at 800bhp.

Stands to reason that it won't be lighter!

A conundrum for sure, mine was from Real Steel and rated at 800hp. My previous single plate was rated at 500. My twin plate was a delight and you agreed. Twice the friction area shouldn't need twice the effort. Anyhow, seems you have a solution in hand, beerhippy
