Did nothing in my 'garage'. Have been asked to look at my FiLs 190 Merc that has been sat out in the desert for a while. Maybe cheaper than hiring a car biggrin

Why can't you do the steering rack yourself ? There's enough info on line.

It may be the differential that has play that is giving you the clonking.

So the vibration problem has been worse and had a look at the manifold clearance. Touching on the driver's side so bought some spacers from Powers.
First chance to drive the car properly, if only to the petrol station, and the vibration felt through the chassis has gone. Much better. wink

Just bolted the seats in after having the rollbar altered to suit the seats.

Very pleased with the results, great match of colour.

New front discs and pads - all done by 0830 and no swearing required! Did find half the friction material on one of the inner pads missing so looking forward to better braking performance.
Can’t wait until they stop salting the roads
