Fitted a set of rear brake pads tonight, picked up a top tip from a old thread, 6" angle grinder spanner makes a really good tool for winding the pistons back.

Top tip!

Looked at my potential new dashboard and carbon fibre wrap. Elected to eat home made pepperoni and mushroom pizza and drink Malbec instead of sticking wrap to dash.

Finally got some time in the garage tonight. Rear calipers and shocks fitted, (thanks for the tips Peter) what a pain removing the handbrake cables form the old calipers!

Just need to bleed the brakes, adjust the handbrake, set the ride height, change diff, gearbox and engine oil and should be good to go!

I only multi-task when cooking a full english breakfast for 4 in under 15 minutes.
Women can do three things at once apparently......as long as two of them aren’t map reading and parking. whistle

When bleeding the brakes, some cars have a bleed nipple on the master cylinder. If you can’t get a hard pedal after bleeding the brakes normally you may have to try and bleed from this point. It is really awkward to get to!

....not to speak of being extremely annoying if you shear it off. Be careful out there.

Yep, luckily for me, someone else’s experience, but I loiter on here a fair bit and remember the don’ts as well the dos.

I think I remember correctly that was a Phazed don’t!

The above link is why I do so very little in my garage and why at Anthony and Peter's guidance my cars next visit to a garage will be a well spent day in the company of Joolz thumbup

Finally plucked up the courage to stick my £7 worth of carbon fibre vinyl to the spare dash that Alun gave me (swap for an inlet manifold).

Before, but after cleaning up the surface with a flap wheel on my angle grinder

After:

And with a couple of handy instruments:

No need - got a man with a £50k CNC drilling machine to cut the extra holes.

After that my childhood years of watching the lovely Valerie Singleton on Blue Peter became useful at last - sticky back plastic was a big part of my childhood.

The craft knife would be a health and safety issue to 21st century man, but I was born in the 19th century, so no problem whatsoever, I don’t need a licence for it.

Only problem is that, without several injuries and a coating of oil and grease, I cannot honestly say I have done a car job.....

Me too - must do more though. My car smells of fuel every time I drive it. And there is a clunk from the front right brake first time I use the middle pedal.

Reseated the window runners with the n the rail on the drivers side. Rattling window fixed. Taking the door card off wasn't nearly as bad as I feared although the Mrs did the last one.

Whilst the card is off I'm now working on the door mirror. It would appear the grub screw has come loose.

Also sailed through an MOT this week with an advisory for a lower ball joint but no urgency to replace it.

Actually drove the car today after all the s###e weather. Joined a line of 22 other Tivs at Sportscars in The Park, Newby Hall, near Ripon. But we were dwarfed by approx 1,000 Pistonheaders in all sorts of metal and plastic.

Here is what I did. I had the window full down and then fed the inset between window and rail. I then raised and lowered the window holding the insert on the up and letting it be dragged down on the down.

Once it had dragged enough to align the insert I raised the window and then used a small spanner inside the felt groove to bed the insert in to the rail. Finally I lowered the window to get to the last bit.

Oh and as always a little lube helps. Especially that last bit which is super fiddly.
