Still looking for that one car
First one oil leaks, badly chiped, milky window, hole"s in leather
Second one oil leaks, scuffed and scratched all over
(been washed with a wire brush ? )broken seat belt and 4 month gap in history, front screen rubber hanging out and 5 owners
Both cars 98 - 99 both wanted the earth
Keep going back to TMS some great cars but not my colour combination yet
there must be some well kept chimeras out there
99, 4.5, £20,000 -£24,000 not green and not bland or yellow, with a nice combination inside

I was in the same position as you just over a year ago, after about 3-4 months of serious looking I finally found my perfect Chimaera. There were many factors that I wanted in my car, the main ones being that it had FSH and was well cared for and that it was the right colour (similar criteria to you). As it turned out I got lucky and found the right car in a private ad., one owner from new, and one year down the line I have only had two troubles, a dodgy window switch (£20 fix) and a new alarm siren (£100). I have also had some interior retrimmed in purple to compliment the car.

I am still in seventh heaven and will happily stay there until I can get a Cerb 4.5 LW!

Don't give up!

Chris

Darren I am near newark and lincoln and i dont mind traveling but realy car"nt find the time to travel 120 miles to see a car that realy isnt up to scratch or so far any where near, Thats not to say that i dont mind getting a few minor or major jobs done come to that
Have done the auto-traderand sussed some out but the prices are all over the place, there does"nt seem to be any consistancy, Dont mind paying top money for a top car,I will keep looking
I should say that it was the wife who found most of the problems as i could have bought either if she was"nt with us

Pleased to hear that you found your car in the end and i know i will in time, haven"t ruled out a 4.0 but the 4.5 pull much better and i feel some of the sellers must now think i am a test pilot, But some of these guys realy dont know how to look after such a fantastic car,
Went into TMS at melton yesterday just to see what they should look like, They are trying like mad to find one for me as well, They have a realy good one in wild oyster 4.0 but the colour does"nt quite do it for me, How ever they had what i thought was the best griff i had ever seen in red on a w plate it was the dogs bits But i want a CHIMERA PLEASe
Thanks for the reply
Ron
PS the paradise purple looks fantastic

If your p*ssed off with looking at dogs why not employ someone that'll sort out the wheat from the chaff for you. You may have heard of Rob Ingleby at findasportscar you'll certainly see his advert in Sprint every month. He has quite a few recommendations from PH and TVRCC members.
I have used him in the past and do not hesitate in recommending him. The acid test is that I will use him again in future. He travels the length of the country throughout the week looking at Tivs for clients and is very reasonable, give him ring on 07799142860 it can't hurt, you may even be surprised at what he can pick up. He'll also do the negotiating to get you the right car at a fair price, normally more than covering his fee.

Harry

PS NO I do not work for or with Rob just that I think the guy is doing a bloody good service, particularly if time and travelling are at a premium for you.

I spent 4 months looking - got a Paris Blue, with full dark blue interior, ally dash, 16K on the clock - FTVRSH, for a snip over 20K back in February . . .worht looking and I did probably do well over 1000 miles in visits - but that's the case. Just be ready to strike. Sounds like you need to comission Rob, I hear he is THE MAN.

Just e-mailed Rob with spec and will call him tomorrow,
Had seen his name quite a few times and watched his site, Main worry i dont want to waste his time finding a great car one when you see it you just know it not your colour combination. But will talk this over with him tomorrow. ( had read how much difficulty he was to contact)
Cheers Ron
