Just stopped at the weekend, has been fine up to that point.

Its a 98 400 with the later push on/off/variable speed control.

I have searched google and PH and found loads of info but not found a wiring diagram so firstly does anyone have one ?

Had the dash top off and the usual burnt out connector exists but that's already had a 'repair' and the connection is secure and working so rules that out.

Had the top off the control unit, it looks OK, nothing obviously burnt out inside it.

All fuses in the footwell are good.

I would like to put power straight to the fan to test it but don't know which wires feed the fan motor from the dash.

Any info greatly appreciated.

Can anyone identify the wires on the control unit in the photograph.

Yellow wire and green wire on my 1997, not sure which is live and earth.
You can access them from the passenger footwell. Mine has a 2 pin connector under the "wheel arch" carpet.

Very useful thank you, I'll go see if I have one lurking behind the carpet.........

FIXED !!!!!
The connector hidden behind the carpet was badly corroded and burnt. Cables trimmed and a new connector block fitted and all working again.

Thankfully the fan is OK and I don't have to remove it, phew that's a relief.

Once again thanks to swallet for the post that set me on the right trail.

Great news.
Nice when it's an easy fix.

When mine wasn't working it was the passenger footwell connector that was loose as well. Unfortunately my control box has now burnt out so I need to "repair" as per your picture"

Control box burnt out, or just one terminal of the big connector? Mine was the latter, and I bypassed the wire thanks to a pic on a PH thread, a drill and a soldering iron. eek
