Meta Alarm/Mobilizer
Discussion
Just spoke to Carl Baker about random issues with my immobiliser, as I'm thinking of chucking my meta system out.
Apparently 9 years was the max life for this system from meta! Cracking electrical engineering.
Anyway, a strip and fit of the entire alarm and immobiliser system is £650 all in. It's apparently a 12 hour job.
Does his work in Kent and next over in September.

Thanks for the reply.
Touching wood, my system seems to be working correctly at this time but is now 14 years old and as I was thinking of adding remote boot opening wanted to know first whether the wiring issue had been fixed and hence long term reliability improved (but clearly not) as this would help decide on whether to mod the current system or just replace the lot....
May hold off for a while yet .......
I appreciate the help and comments.

I saw this during my research, can't vouch for it though

Had the full Carl Baker Meta Alarm/Boot release/Hot Start fix done in Feb 2013. A great install by a man who knows his stuff inside & out. Insurance approved as said etc. Top job.
+1 for Carl Baker. Plus plipper as a bonus. Mine was done October 12. Fit and forget. Happy days. SILICONEKIDOBHP said:
There is no way its going to take 12 hours to fit an alarm and immobiliser ! he is having your pants down .
There must be other decent alarm fitters ,it`s not rocket science .
Supply and demand. He can charge that because of the demand. TBF the price is good if it was to take a day, I doubt it would be worked on for more than 3 hours, but when you put a price on reliability and security, I still think it's a fair price. There must be other decent alarm fitters ,it`s not rocket science .
I sat in his kitchen working while he did mine. I was there before 8 am and left about 7 pm. Every time I wondered over to have a look unannounced he was working. He doesn't take phone calls or visitors during an installation. He removes the existing, sorts out all the wiring both behind the dash and elsewhere, fixes any sensor faults, installs a complete new system including remote boot release, makes two new keys, tests the entire system, trains the owner and leaves everything properly installed and tidy.
Professional job, done for about £30 per hour plus the kit, which he helped Meta develop. I certainly got what I paid for.

It's not just a replacement unit. It's a full upgrade of your wiring which includes re working the starter circuit, installing the remote boot release, creating the new keys & fobs, running the siren wiring in the inner wing properly, removing the old etc etc.
It's not just a new alarm, it's a package which solves 3 big issues in one hit in one day.
Best & wisest money you will ever spend.

There are, but they will just cut and splice it in, Carl does the job the proper way, routes fresh wiring and tidies up all your spaghetti. Your cars wiring will look tidier than it did when it left the factory....top job and worth every penny. There must be other decent alarm fitters ,it`s not rocket science .
