Hey folks, can anyone help.
With the recent rain, I have noticed more and more water ingress into the car, mainly behind the passenger seat.
I have replaced the door, hood and targa seals, but have noticed a gap between the seals and door at the base of the roof hinge. Not a great pic, but, is there anything missing from this area, as this looks like the area rain is getting in?
Can anyone recommend somewhere near Chessington that can align the door windows etc, to make the car as waterproof as possible. With winter looming, I don't want top be stuck never using the car due to a bit of rain
Thanks
Phil

Unfortunate that Mole Valley TVR moved, as they had mine in perfect condition for years.
Honestly, yours doesn't look bad at all in the area you've taken photos of. I would suggest that it's more likely a case of needing a good hood waterproofing treatment, if you haven't done it already?
I've used the absurdly expensive Autoglym to good effect, but I am sure others have recommended something equally efficient for less.
Good luck in any case.

It's missing the 'ears' simple rubber bits that help that water fall out of rather than in the car.
I used to pride myself that every chim and griff left being as water tight as possible, they're not hard to get water tight really.
The silicone sealer around the brake master cylinder and clutch cover, along with the bungs on the same inner wing, re-seal all.
The rubber ears I mentioned before, I'll take a picture in a bit. These really help.
The stitching and Velcro on the hood edge and rear screen stitching must be sound, if not it's a weak point.
Last is the pinch point on the door seal, if it's not got one the water had no where to run other than inside the car.
A bit of fabsil on the hood doesn't do any harm.
If all these are ok, it won't leak.

Thanks, it may well be the rubber ears as haven't seen anything like them on the car. The doors have the rubber caps intact, and the rubber caps that the door seals slot into are also present, but no ears that I can see.
It may well be the pinch point too, as I installed the seals myself, copying what was already on the car, so not sure if I have them or not.
Any photo's and advice would be hugely appreciated
Any idea where I can get the rubber ears from?
Many thanks

This is what I mean, I fitted them to mine when I got it along with re stitching the Velcro on the good and sticking the other bits down on the car and it's dry now for the first time in years.
Use a bike inner tube, you can see the approximate size by my photo, have a go and you get it by the second attempt.
It's such a simple fix that an awful lot of chims don't have and makes a huge difference.
That's great, just what I need.
Will have a go on Sun. A nice cheap easy fix by the look of it. Hopefully a bit of renovo too, and all will be good
Many thanks for the advice

Well spotted. And excellent advice on the rest of it too.
I entirely agree with you, it's not that difficult; the original 'system', as lousy as it appears to be, mostly worked very very well.

Trouble is, I just can't stop driving it at the mo, rain or shine
Having exactly the same problem myself.Unable to do anything during the week, and come the weekend...
My screen leaked on the bottom seal, it took a while for the water to work its way to the edge of the dashboard and drop down onto my leg so took me a while to figure out that was where it was coming from. Could see a tiny stream of water move if I pressed on the bottom of the screen. Get a hose and aim it at random parts of the car is the best advice I can think of, a tube of sikaflex fixes all

With regards to both foot wells getting soaked, I'd say run a line of silicone sealer down the leading edge of the door seal and make sure the door seal has a small piece glued together on the bottom half to allow the water to drain away.
The seal/trim around the windscreen is often loose as people use it as a handle to pull themselves out with, again trusty silicone sealer is your friend here.
I'll take more pictures tonight.

I am getting water in both footwells, I think it is where the hoses go through on the O/S wing but unsure of the water in the N/S. do the screen seals leak or is there another path for the ingress of water?
Sorry for the Hijack
Jamie the usual suspects are :-Sorry for the Hijack
Brake fluid reservoir seal around it on the inner wing
Clutch fluid reservoir cover on the inner wing
Hose grommets on the inner wing
ID plates/rivets on the inner wing
Brake Hose connections through the inner wing
Bonnet Release cable through the inner wing
Wiring Loom on N/S through the inner wing (see the pattern here !!!)
windscreen seal
Door seal either front edge or at the pinch points
Around the windscreen wiper spindles
Get some tolleys sealant :-
