Length can vary due to alternator position on the adjusting bracket and also the size of the alternator pulley.

Typical builder, nearest inch will do, eh! winkbiglaugh

Am I right in assuming the larger top threaded hole is the supply from the steering pump and the lower one is the return.

Generally the smaller pipe is the pressure pipe. This ensures the return will always cope. Best wait for someone who has fitted one to be sure.

You beat me to it. Something to do with smaller pipes dealing with the high pressure and the larger pipes to deal with the lower pressure and slower flowing return.

The top one is the return, ( nearest the spindle).

Can I ask which UJ your using at the rack end?
Im assuming its not the KA one as you have not created a hexagon for it, or are my eyes deceiving me?

Right so the Vauxhall Astra pump is not a good fit in my engine bay.
Its just too close to the exhaust and the chance of boiling the fluid is high, however it is a bloody good fit in the nose. Brackets made, just got to wait for paint to dry.

Astra H or Mk 5 2004-2010. Lots on the Bay from under £30.

Correct as above. Astra cost me £30, so if it works OK I will stock some spares. Hoping the forward position will prevent issues some have mentioned with heat soak.

Looks like a good fit for my Wedge.
