Anyone have any idea how thick nylon lock stops are needed? My rack doesn’t seem to have any

Thanks

Every car will be different, it's best to get it all mocked up and then check.
I took 10 mm nylon spacers out of my manual rack both sides.
Test on full lock both sides when done and if it rubs turn steering back until you get clearance, you can then measure gap between rack and steering rod end.

I finished mocking everything up today and added some fluid but sadly I have a leak at the joint where the pinion shaft housing joins the rack.frown
I'm guessing the heat from the machining of the shaft may have distorted a seal.
I can't see any other reason for a leak at this point so may be rack out time and off to be refurbished.

What a shame.

It might be worth unbolting the shaft section and just checking that everything looks okay there.

When I did mine, I unbolted the housing from the rack , taped up the exposed end to keep debris out, hand machined the shaft and bolted it in position. Luckily everything was okay.

I thought I might have to have the rack refurbished but it has been in there for three years or so and seems fine.

Anyone know what size the copper pipe and nuts are on the pinion to rack pipes? Mine didn’t survive the strip down

I think you will find it’s 1/4 pipe and the ends are M12 x 1 mm.
Full breakdown of most parts on page 11.

Is it true the power steering pump can be adjusted ?

The plates sit on the existing rack mounts as the scooby mounts are different.
Those are the correct mounts and rubbers.

Not as far as I know although I was told if you try different bore hoses, you'll feel a difference. Cant say for sure.....

Thought I'd read "somewhere" about different pressure relief springs (presumeably in the pump) to vary the amount of assistance?

Next question! Anyone know what length track rods are needed? I’m converting from a manual tvr rack, I was going to order a pair of 336mm ones but it says there could be variations! The cars a mk2 if that makes a difference

Thanks all
