I know this mod is 'so last year' and latest wallet emptying excitement is currently surrounding the latest must have Brembo braking system, but I thought I would post a quick update on this.

I have had the gear lever shortened and it has made a huge improvement, as it was too long before. The shifter it now sits just a little lower than standard.

The quick shift does seem to have shortened the distance between the gears and the shifts feel a lot more direct with the the S10 tail housing. Just waiting for new heavy knob from the states the same as what Dave has ordered and will report back once it is fitted.

I have booked up some track time at PH Sunday Service at pod this weekend so it will be the first time used in anger. Hoping not to miss any gears.

Are you a TVRCC member Dave, if so you should consider writing an article for the club magazine on this mod.

I'm not a TVRCC member Matthew, but I have been approached by them a few times now to pen a write up on my LPG conversion, I must admit I've been too lazy to do it even though I predict a quick edit of my PH topic on that one would have it licked in no time.

That's the thing about PH, love it or hate it you have to admit it's a great format to communicate & share ideas. I could also offer a write up on the S-10 tail housing mod but the truth is it isn't my idea, all TVRs from 2000 on had it and Readman Racing/Grantura Engineering have offered it for years.

That aside I'm really pleased to hear you've got the result you wanted from the mod, I'm certainly delighted with mine and personally would never go back to the TVR linkage. Now I have 45mpg economy and the Brembo brake conversion, all I need is Intrax suspension with anti-dive technology, a 3.08 diff and a supercharger kit with charge cooler and my car will be complete nuts

Actually I don't think I'll ever strop developing 'Ol Gasbag', because stopping the development would spoil half the fun wink

Another vote for never stopping the development curve Dave, I'm also at the time in life that doing the mods and the excitement building upto it is almost if not more rewarding than some of the results but in the case of the brakes and having driven Chims with the Brembos it's a no brainer and works well.
Onwards and upwards. thumbup

My knob extension has arrived. I must say all joking aside it is an absolute work of art I am over the moon with it. Will fit it to the car tomorrow and give it a good test up to Burghley House. My guess is that it will take a bit of getting used to holding a big heavy knob in my hand.

Well I have just confirmed looks like the last of the Chimaera's had the proper tail housing standard scratchchin thought this one had a slicker feel just presumed it was because of less age & mileage, this one also has the 3.23 diff ratio ... Bonus

Thread revive. Ive been trying to get hold of the s10 tailhousing but to no avail. Only thing there is a company in the US making new one and it costs 630 dollars :O

I need one for my early Griff T5 conversion!

I've heard that there are significant problems finding spares for the T5WC TVR variant. Just don't let the breakers know otherwise it will get very difficult very quickly.

That doesn't have the mounts used by TVRs, or the right shifter location
