Think our very own Peter/Phazed may disagree about the motor-home handling trait rolleyes bumpy B roads I think many will agree they get tied up in knots myself also , but given a decent road service they handle bloody well with minimal roll , only stupidity and inexperience with these cars will get you into a world of st yikes see here Peter in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asXMjE-4x9E
I've been round Snetterton as a passenger in Peters old 5.5 biggrin

Oh, and no need for the rolling eyes smile

I don't think there'd be many people would argue the chim/griff chassis can't be improved .. but does it *need* improving? Most people think not or they'd be doing something about it. I think it's just fine.

If yours corners like a motorhome either you have a VERY racey comparison motorhome, or your car is not a particularly good example of the breed ...
Actually it's pretty well set up, Gaz mono's, full geo, and corner weighted, and it does corner quite well, comparatively... maybe the motorhome comment was a bit harsh smile I love mine and wouldn't go further than I have with regards to 'handling' mods... Monstering it through some of our Norfolk twisty's is all part of the enjoyment I get from it smile

Oh, and Al, chill out man wink
Chilli xx
Corner weighted; before or after Mr Sandwich, perhaps after one too many bacon sarnies, has sat in it? wink and the only people I know who've driven motorhomes are, like, really REALLY old - oh, wait a minute biggrin

Next thing, you'll be saying 'now, in an Aston' just like the old Aston-boys (ps, anybody want to buy some Aston shares?)

My 5.5 handled very well, especially at speed. Obviously it will never be a Lotus Elise but considering its roots and R&D, it handled surprisingly well.

Of course it wasn’t standard, having uprated suspension, thicker antiroll bars and decent slightly wider tyres.

I must say that the Curborough sprint course the video doesn’t look that fast but out of 30+ cars I was always in the top 5 Roadgoing cars at least.
Strangely there is a guy on here, Jonny, I have forgotten his PH handle, who was always a fraction faster than me. He only had a 4.3 chim with the same suspension and tyres as me pretty much but was a very smooth driver.

Anyhow, the long and the short of it is these can be made to handle better depending on the depth of one’s pockets but in real terms it is quite affordable.

I have a Boxster S now with adjustable suspension by a press of a button on the dash. I dread to think of the cost of one of these units, probably the same price as the whole suspension set up for a chim smile

BTW, The strange noise on the video was because I had a broken front drop link which I didn’t realise at the time but wondered why the car handles slightly differently!

Jony rarely posts on here now, but his forum name is Rib.
You will find him on Faceache regularly, especially on the Curborough Sprint and Trackday forum.

I wondered why he was always that bit quicker, but having been out around the track with him driving, I came to the following conclusions:

1. He is a bloody good driver
2. The 4.3 revs well
3. He is about 6 stone lighter than either than us, due to a history of medical issues with which he still lives daily, yet manages always to be a cheerful and likeable soul. So his car is lugging less weight around.

6 stone is about the Touring Car win handicap weight.

He has sold the Chimaera 4.3 to a friend of mine, and now has an LS engined Tamora. I wonder if that is actually any quicker around Curborough?
I had a ride in Steve Gullick's and it wasn't, but i suspect it was down to the driver, not the car.

Any update on this car history please, what became of it, as it's a one off?

Did Sprint ever do an article on it, how it drives real world etc?

Thanks.

The last owner traded it in for a Mclaren and I bought it off their disposals trader. Imo the S6 engine/V8 chim exhaust is the best tvr sound combination. It rides and handles well enough, although I feel aware of not having any rollover protection or side protection. You seem to sit nice and low in a Chim mk III. It's quick and revs nicely as you would imagine one of Power's 4.3 to do. Thinking about retro fitting aircon. And I think it would look better on Spider alloys..... TVR Eng Ltd should have made them in period.

This looks very cool. I’ve looked up and down but can’t find the answer to the question “why?”

Is it just “why not?”
